The doctor has got me on Zyban, which is expensive, and the insurance company doesn't pay for. It seems to be working, as I am down to about 8 cigaretts daily (down from 40) and, there is some NEATO intestinal gas that goes along with it.

Very cool! Glad to hear all of the people on the board who are trying to quit smoking. I have no will power myself, I'm just lucky that I never started to smoke in the first place.

Congrats Ambrosious, hang tough...once you get over the initial withdrawals, stick with it. Starting back up is way too easy, just keep telling yourself you are doing this for the baby! Smoke free environments are much healthier and you want a healthy baby...

Congrats Ambrosious. Hang in there, the Zyban is great, just watch out for dehydration and insomnia.

advice from an ex-smoker(almost 1 year)

Ambro - get your doctor to say you are depressed and perscribe Wellbutrin, same drug but insurance might cover it. Why in god's name does health insurance not encourage the one thing that can reduce health risks more than any other thing? did they forget what the "M" in HMO stands for?

As I have said over and over again but none of you are willing to listen to the truth. It is all part of the Pharma Cartel's conspiracy to keep us sick and unhealthy, so that they can get richer and richer by prescribing us drugs, all the while we get poorer and broker.

Did you ever read the full sideeffects to Zyban. If you are not perfect health when go on to it, it will and does lead to up 17 different long term organ shuts down that guess what? Cost you yet more money. But no I am just a fanatic. I can hear you all shaking your head in disbelief and saying that the Pharma Cartel is not real, because you are unwilling to face how much they are controling your health for thier benefit not our own.

Ambro

Keep it up you're doing well. I have to point out the expense of cigarettes continuing to rule your life and the possibility of COPD or worse in the future vs the cost of a pill to help you now.

(damn can't stay away from the run-on sentences)

i hate to say this... but todd is right, Zyban has been proven to distroy many organs in a slow process... but I don't know nothing.... I a just a simple gentical engineer.

But....

Isn't that with continued extended use? Isn't the idea of Zyban short term? (all things relative). I don't know much m'self...I'm only a Nurse.

From what is shown, Zyban should be only used for 3 to 6 months max... anything more and the rug shits in your systme for a extreme amount of time and slowly begins to disrupt blood flow to you organs... But then again... if you take to many Asprin it will do the same thing and to much sugar can make you do some cool things to...

So any drug out there can destroy something or do something wrong, but hey who cares if it helps great... if it don't o well...

LIFE GOES ON>>> AND I AM STILL GOING TO SMOKE BECAUSE I LIKE FUCKING UP EVERYONES FUCKING LUNGS AND REMEMBER>>> EVERY TIME YOU BREATHE OUTSIDE AIR IT IS STILL HAPPEING>>> AHAHAHAHA
