This is actually taken from the setting of a story I did with one of my friends a very long time ago. But I liked the Princess's secret apartment, so I thought I'd turn it into my own little hideaway here...
The Downstairs/Social Area: The downstairs is one big open space, well almost. All of the floors are done in a deep red hardwood and the walls are covered in plain black wallpaper. There are no fancy chandeliers. Just plain old regular ceiling lights. I'm still saving up the money to get a chandelier. On either side of the door are provided caddies for guests to remove their shoes.(It's just easier to clean and I find people are more social and comfortable when in socks or slippers). There is also a box of slippers/house-shoes in the entertainment center cabinet closest to the door for anyone who wants them.
The Dining Area: The dining area is really just the corner of the room directly to the right of the door. It's just the dining table and some chairs. The tabletop is completely glass and its legs are black wrought-iron. The chairs are the same wrought-iron and have very comfy red-velvet upholstered cushions.
The Kitchen(ette): The kitchen area is directly across from the dining area in the back right corner of the room. Aside from the floor and dishes, the kitchen area is done completely in black and chrome. A black granite counter-top wraps around the space, almost closing it off from the rest of the room. The cabinets and woodwork are all done in black with chrome handles and accents. The large appliances(fridge, stove, microwave)and the sink are done in chrome. Around the outside of the counter are arranged six tall chairs, three on the left counter and three on the front counter, all made out of wrought iron with the same red velvet cushions as the dining chairs.
The Entertainment Centre: Immediately to the left of the door in the center of the front wall is the entertainment center. On the wall is mounted a modestly-sized flatscreen TV. Directly underneath the TV are some cabinets(black with chrome handles) that house games, movies, extra gaming consoles, etc. On top of the cabinet sits the satellite TV receiver, DVD player, stereo and a VCR(yes, I really do still have VCR. Until all the great movies have been re-released on disc, I will keep my VCR. I also still have an Atari and a Nintendo 64.) Around the TV are shelves containing books, a couple of stereo speakers, and some small decorative trinkets.
The Living Room Area: The living room area is directly in front of the entertainment centre and consists of Victorian-inspired overstuffed chairs and matching sofa. The upholstery red with small black flowers sewn into it. The decorative pillows are black with red flowers on them. In the centre of the furniture is a Japanese-style low table with several cushions stacked underneath it. Under it all is a large decorative middle-eastern rug.
The Workspace: The workspace is a little area off in the back left corner that contains a computer desk and a big leather chair. It's just a plain desk like most people have and not decorative or fancy like the rest of the apartment. There is a desktop computer, printer/copier/scanner, fax machine, and lots of miscellaneous office supplies for communal use. Feel free to use the workspace for whatever you need or even to just look at porn. I don't judge.
The Staircase: The staircase is in the front left corner of the room, directly across from the workspace. It is a compact winding staircase made of wrought-iron and leads to the upstairs (obviously). Next to the staircase on the left wall are the large bay windows that extend to two-thirds the height of the ceiling. The window seat is upholstered in the same red velvet as the chairs and has several comfy pillows thrown upon it of various shapes, sizes and colours. The curtains have the same pattern as the couch upholstery but are seldom closed as the windows are slightly tinted to provide for some little privacy.
The Upstairs: The upstairs area is off-limits except to those who ask nicely or are invited. Sometimes the upstairs will be open for special events or occasions.
Now that you've taken the tour, come in, sit down, have a cup of tea and relax. Put your feet up and enjoy some pleasant conversation.
