You're feeling blue ... what do you do to perk yourself up?

I was feeling blue yesterday - not depressed or really down - just that odd blue feeling that can come over me sometimes. Made me wonder what do other people do to perk themselves up when they are feeling blue.

So Vibers, do you sleep, eat, drink, shop, talk with a friend - what perks you up and out of a blue mood?

Yesterday I went shopping to shake my blue mood - bought cds. Also went in for a manicure - doing these things helped me shake my blue mood.

what little or big things do you do to shake a blue mood?

Best feeling in the world!

Although I can think of a fair number of erotic answers to your question, I feel that I must be completely serious and honest with this one.

The thing that I do to bring myself out of a real blue mood is cuddle with my wife. That simple. I can always count on the comfort and love that we have to make me feel better. May not necessarily cheer me up, but is a sure bet for taking the edge off. Generally lets me relax enough to figure out what is making me blue and figure out what to do about it.

Trust me, if you haven't found that particular sort of love yet, I HIGHLY recommend it.

Kisses

When I get moods like that, I usually put on a good cd, something a bit bright and vibrant to help me get out of that mood. If I had the money, I would go to a bookstore or music store and spoil myself a little. That or go and get the tastiest chocolate treat I can find - which I try not to do too often as I'm trying to loose weight.

But when the money is tight..a good cd or movie is right what I needed. I also meditate too, to try and see if that will help me relax. My friend and I went to some classes when I visited her in Canada, and gods did that ever help!

Anyway, I hope you're not feeling blue again today.

Sorry for not responding before now amBIguous - got called away! Thank you for posting!

I do trust what you say and I am searching for "that particular sort of love" that you describe. I would rather stay home and cuddle that love than go see my manicurist! Cuddling can be both comforting and erotic, no?

Not blue today, Night_Jasmine, just really tired! Thank you for you thoughts! Part of my blue mood yesterday is because I have gone a month without working out and exercise helps me scoot around the blues! Kind of like meditating, working out is to me. Of course I get rather vocal with my trainer and start threatening that I will beat her ass if she makes me do one more deadlift!

And yes - music - I somehow missed the whole thing on music in my younger days and so yesterday I decided to change that and bought a bunch of cds! I was just compelled to stay up and listen to them!

Thats exactly what I do, excersise, for some reason the combination of being alone with your thoughts and at the same time working to better yourself and your body is severly relaxing and comforting. I guess when I'm blue, I like to do something along the lines of self meditation, like excersising, just to think it through and get over it.

Cuddling with my ex-wife always did the trick also though, and your right, its romantic, sensual, and can even be erotic at times(even when your down). Love has a whole lot of perks if its real, including picking you up at any time.

Music has the same kind of tricks. With the right CD you can either lift yourself up, or bring yourself down. Its all in what you listen to.

Hope you feel good today privyjo. :rose:

Well ... I try really really hard to bypass the feelings of jealousy and envy but, amBI - you have tweaked both in an instant! I remain happy for you however! :D

Thank you privyjo. I feel lucky and thankful every day.

Have to say, I forgot about the stress relief of going to the gym. Just started going again 2 weeks ago. Been about 5 years since the last time. Used to go 6 times a week, 2 hrs a day. But then, kids came and ate my free time. Now I have to lose what my wife calls my "married belly".

I usually just think my way through it. I can never really understand what puts me in that mood so just find that sitting calmly and trying to sort my thoughts out is better than a distraction. oh, and banoffee pie :nana:

I have to ask Harrowborg...what is banoffee pie??

(I might have spelt it wrong, think its banoffee?) well, its a biscuit base, with a layer of toffee, then whipped cream with pieces of chopped banana, topped off with a sprinkling of chocolate powder. :)

Yeah, Harrowborg, what amBI asked! What is banoffee pie - like a pie made with a dancing banana and bouncing java?

Sometimes I know why I am feeling blue, but sometimes I don't. I really don't like it when I can't figure out the why!

Hope you are having a good day, Borg! :)

Its delicious! love the stuff, proves you can have a nice desert without chocolate. :)

Music always takes me away from a blue mood. Or if i Really think i need to just feel the blues... music can enhance the sensation and let me wallow in it.

Concerts are even better to cheer me up. Nothing like live music. and to that end... i just locked up the shop, drove down the highway to give the line "Bob, knows where the Black Crowes Fly" to win a pair of tickets to the show this Sunday! :p

Glad you're feeling better today privy! What CDs did you treat yourself to??

my emotions change quickly so i generally just go about my day and things get better as time progresses!

Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream usually takes care of it for me.

Lol...For me, I usually run and get some Ben and Jerry's Berry Garcia.

Cuddling does sound like a wonderful way to alleviate the blues, but I've only got a cat to snuggle with and she gets squirmy. So that doesn't work too much.

I could use something right now though. I'm having a 'blue' day now.

being that I'm still only 21... I do what most young people in this town do to cheer up... drugs. :D
