You're beautiful...

I noticed that the last time anyone posted on this here thread was August 23rd...as FDR said about December 7th...a date that will live in infamy.

If you've followed my posts and maybe some of you have, it's been a tough year for me. I had a health issue in April and I'd been recovering from that. I've lost weight - about 30 pounds worth - and have been taking care of myself in terms of health care, diet, and exercise.

Which brings me to exercise. I was building up to 4 miles a day of a walk/jog and on the weekends I was walking/jogging 6.2 miles on Saturday and riding my bike an hour on Sunday.

On August 23rd, I was crossing the street (the light was on my side!) in a jog and I was struck by a car as I was in the crosswalk. I flew a little bit in the air and landed on her windshield with my left shoulder taking the brunt of the impact. I did have a contusion on my leg, a road rashed elbow, and a couple of cuts on my forehead. And I may have had a slight concussion. The lady never saw me...despite the fact that I was wearing a reflective lime green running shirt...probably because she didn't look my way. In the accident report she was cited for "failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk."

How was my shoulder you may ask...well...Warren Zevon said it best, "my shit's fucked up." The shoulder separated medially and it ripped the scapula tendon, another tendon in front as well as the tendon that attaches my bicep to the shoulder. And completely tore my rotator cuff. So, I had arthroscopic surgery to reconstruct the three tendon tears and a total rotator cuff tear on the 15th of September and things are going relatively well in my recovery. I'm not in all that much pain and am off the pain medicine. Getting off opoids after just a couple of weeks is like getting off heroin cold turkey.

I have to be in a sling for 6 weeks (only 2 more to go) and since I'm an IT guy, I'm able to work, but it's been slow since the surgery. I don't have a lot of stamina because it's difficult sleeping, with the sling on and sleeping on my back.

Yes, I have hired a lawyer. The settlement will come after all my medical bills are in, which is after everything is all finished .... everything being physical therapy and anything else I may need medical wise.

So....that's my status.

I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles, BBB. I wasn't aware. But I'm glad you're on the mend and it's something that can be fixed. Praying for a full recovery for you, and that your lawyer is top notch. ;)

Wow... so sorry you have had to go through this... wishing you good healing for the coming days.

Oh wow...
I had actually noticed that this thread had not moved in a long time, but I was off Lit for all of September...

BBB...I am so terribly sorry this accident happened. Something, that had the driver been paying attention, likely could have been prevented. A reminder to all of us sometimes over excited Litsters to *never* text and drive. Pay attention, your car is a weapon and people can get hurt. Bodies can heal, but things are usually never quite the same.

Sending you all my best healing vibes and strength. You are so beautiful BBB and your light is so strong. I was missing you and had you on my list to figure out why I hadn't seen you around.

Big fat bear hug for you while I carefully maneuver around your injured shoulder.
cb

Sorry to hear that bro, cool you are off the pain killers, wishing you a swiftly continued recovery.
