You're beautiful...

Cascadia will tell you I am hard on my self. But, you know what? I am proud of my scars. They all tell a story about a battle I won, whether it was with a scalpel or and oven tray. They are part of the story of the life, not what brought me down, but what I won against.

Good luck in surgery :rose:

I echo this. Good luck in surgery.
And Elle...for as much as I have noted you are hard on yourself, I have never said that scars are not also beautiful. They are the tattoos of our lives. They are, as you say evidence of adventures or of battles won against injury or illness. We all have scars both visable and invisible. And the body as it makes scar tissue..this is tough stuff. The places where we are physically armored.
I know I wear my scars, both physical and psychological with pride. Just as we all should. As marks of my unique beauty. Of my character. Of my strength. Mile markers of a life lived standing up.

"We live in a vulnerable world. And one of the ways we deal with it is we numb vulnerability. (…) The problem is – and I learned this from the research – that you cannot selectively numb emotion. You can’t say, here’s the bad stuff. Here’s vulnerability, here’s grief, here’s shame, here’s fear, here’s disappointment. I don’t want to feel these. I’m going to have a couple of beers and a banana nut muffin. (…) You can’t numb those hard feelings without numbing the other affects, our emotions. You cannot selectively numb. So when we numb those, we numb joy, we numb gratitude, we numb happiness. And then, we are miserable, and we are looking for purpose and meaning, and then we feel vulnerable, so then we have a couple of beers and a banana nut muffin. And it becomes this dangerous cycle.
— Dr. Brené Brown, “The power of vulnerability”

^^^^^ thank you BBB

I have been getting lessons in vulnerability lately.
The necessity of it.
The power of it.
The way it can cleanse you if you trust the right person with it.

I am grateful that it is Spring.
Grateful for the beauty around me.
And for those here who have found beauty in me.
In spite of my vulnerabilities. My scars. My baggage.
No fooling. :rose::rose::rose:

True beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Literally and not literally. If you merely open your eyes, sure, you can see it....but, you know, it may not even be something you can actually see. In order to see beauty you must open your heart too. You must be able to feel. For that is the purest way to take in all that is good around you.

You're beautiful because your heart glows. Your soul radiates. Your smile illuminates. Your eyes see beyond. Everything else is secondary to me. So I say to you, shine. The world needs more light. The world needs more expressions of beauty. The world needs to see the beauty shining brightly in you.
