Your tax dollars at work

Just a bit of pocket change compared to what federal agencies fund in the U.S. The Brit public got off cheap I'd say.

Yes i think the Americans have tried all this before (with limited success) - i recall seeing a documentary on it ages ago.

I read about this on the net this morning. It's great that our hard earned taxes are being spent on such worthwhile projects. I bet the guy who fell asleep during the experiment felt he had done his bit for Queen and country!

Better that than ten times as much for a junket to learn about the mating habits of the albino Maui squirrel.

The US spent years researching psychic ability for military applications. Althought it was a small fraction of the money that the Russians spent during the cold war.

There are also institutes that specialize in researching psychic ability. There is even statistically significant data that shows that people are psychic. That is statistically significant, not actually significant.

At least if you live in Britain. Snicker.

I'm sure there's been similar projects here though.

Yes Rob I heard this on the radio news on the way home from work, made me chuckle I must admit... Well 18 grand is nothing compared with the recent 29 million to empoy anti public place smoking wardens... (I wonder if they have to be tuned in to the mental images of smokers having a quick one behind brick walls and that)

What it did manage to prove though was that all the mediums advertising in the papers are fakes, they were scared to volunteer weren't they, lest they should fail the tests.

I figure the real psychics knew the live they'd lead if they got detected by the government. So they made sure to make themselves scarce. ;)
