Your take on the King hearings...

And I suggest you do some reading concerning Islam. It is unique among the great religions in that it DOES NOT recognize secular law.
So the "secular Muslims" that you are saying these hearing support are in fact former Muslims who have left the religion alltogether.

For the purposes of this discussion a 'secular' Muslim is one that believes in and will adhere to secular law. I don't think you appreciate how rare that is.

All Muslim nations practice a form of Shari'a law. This based on 4 orders of precedence, the first and highest if the Qu'ran, next come the Hadiths, 3rd is local custom, and last, highly discouraged, is new law or findings. The Hadiths are the teachings and customs as passed down by Mohamed and there are at least six different versions which account for wildly differing applications in Islamic nations. Differing Hadiths are even used by different districts in a nation, or even on a tribal basis. These 'laws' cover such things and how to trim your beard, what women should wear, how to treat your slaves, virtually every facet of a persons life and business dealings are covered. Because all of this is believed to have been handed down by God directly to Mohamed, they carry the weight of commandments. A devote follower of Islam under current theological philosophy will only follow secular law to the extent that it is believed to be in concert with Shari'a law.

What is a Muslim nation? Under current teachings a Muslim nation is defined as being any nation in which a Muslim resides. Any attempt to prevent a Muslim from practicing Shari'a law, or forcing them to adhere to secular law, is considered to be persecution of that Muslim(s) and is sound basis for a call for jihad.

And that, in a nutshell, is the root of the problem.
