Your Opinion, Please

Eric Berne called Riding Hood a castrating bitch.

Any insecure man would:rolleyes:

Florida is the rotting cesspool that all the scum of humanity in the USA run to. You should have endless fodder for despicable villains, fucked up broken heroes and every vice known to mankind and you don't have to worry about having them dodge the cops because parts of that dumpster called a state are all but lawless.

I will be happy to read it. I'm working on my third mafia novel right now, turning it into series. So for my sake, i hope there is demand;-)

Are you writing about the Florida mafia?

Tampa was a mafia franchise starting with Prohibition, we're close to Cuba. And plenty of Italians came here from Italy and New York. But Tampa gangsters were more violent.

My latest noir tale escaped from its cage and wants to be a series.

For now its 25,000 words of prison violence, gangster violence, and deplorable characters. I have a huge fund of Cigar City Mafia (Tampa) material to do a series of long stories. Al Capone owned a hunting lodge close to my home. We actually started life as a movie colony in the 20s, I'm 30 miles from Tampa.

Is the gangster theme worth doing?

More Tampa Noir is always a good thing. Lots of interesting gang-related history in Tampa. Should be lots of good stories to tell.

I think The Infiltrator with Bryan Cranston will stir some interest. Haven't seen it, but put it in my Netflix queue yesterday. They release it 10/12.

Weird thread.

It's even more weird, taking into account previous JBJ discussions of phantom stories he's writing, that he isn't really writing this story (which isn't erotic, either). :D

Noirtrash hasn't posted a story here this year. (It's October)

Whether you write the story or not (though I would like to see it, erotic or not), James, I'd like to thank you for introducing me to a history of which I was not aware.

I am fond of the area, the whole Florida Gulf Coast, as a matter of opinion, but knew it mostly for its physical environment and current populations. Here's a song of the region from an even earlier day; with its reference to the yellow girls of Tampa Bay and a brown girl on the Georgia Line, I'd expect you might enjoy it. I offer it as a little thank-you gift; if you're already familiar with it, please count the thought.

Ah, yes, The Dreadnoughts. 'Katie, bar the door' is an expression that I only came across a month or so back. I assume that it is American through and through. But I like it anyway. :)

Well, considering that the first Cubans came to Tampa, not Miami, that gives you the opportunity to show the Cuban/mafia relationship. Also, with the winter home of the freaks that work carnivals about ten miles south of Ybor, that opens up even more dark and freaky paths that you can travel.

The Cubans went to Key West, first, as did our Greeks, but Key West is small in area.

Gibsonton still attracts carnivals off-season but the freaks are gone.

I wanna take a different tack. Ybor City is beside the cruise ship docks, and trolleys run between Ybor and the docks. The cruise tourists are my target victims because they spend time at the Ybor bars and clubs.

I own one JLB story called TEXAS CITY 1947, about a kid who feeds his stepfather to a gator. Wonderful! I'll look for more.

hmmm...he should have written about serial killer Joe Ball feeding women to the alligators in Elmendorf, Texas (1938). Truth is stranger than fiction, right? Maybe where he got his inspiration...

Alligator stories are common, especially back in the late 1800s.

Shoot! I didn't know that! Where I came from, they weren't just stories. They were a fact of life (or death) depending on the day of the week. But, I don't think I'll write about them anytime soon. Alligators have no sex-appeal to me...unless they are wearing pink lipstick, of course.
So, when will we get a taste of the gangster stories? I can't wait! It'll be a refreshing change.

Hell, most of the showmen are even gone now. More Latino gangs moving into Gibtown then anything else.

Basing everything between the docks and Ybor gives you a nice, tight area to work from.

Should be an interesting read. Looking forward to your story.

I appreciate your interest but be warned I go for the juglar, and all of my characters are who Hillary calls DEPLORABLES. Pimps beat women, women shoot the pimps, then they make up. My axial thesis is: PEOPLE ARE USED CARS. Some are dangerous, most are undependable and flawed, and the few you can live with are rare.

25000 words are done, and the initial launch is 10,000 words, mostly about prison. The 2nd installment is about the principal character leaving prison and going to work for a crime family as a trouble-shooter, literally. I need to complete a sex scene where the principal characters fucks the prison psychologist. The sex sets up major collisions with the blacks and Aryans.

Just when I thought I'd read every offensive, over the top noir scene, I came upon The Devil of them all. And a woman wrote it. Its graphic and sick. But it spawned a plot bunny of a similar vein. Vein is the common denominator, as in juglar vein.
