I have seen on the news that the Galveston Area is lacking in certain basic neccesities. Things like water, sewer and electricity. Hence their not allowing people back into town yet.

On the other hand I heard from a group locally that was raising money for basic neccesities like TV's and Video Games for the kids.

Now as far as I'm concerned basic neccesities are food, water, shelter and a way to dispose of the food after it has been used. Anything else to me is ectra and while it's nice I can get along without it. (Yes I do happen to have a generator and a way to store fuel for said generator. Then again I do happen to like some of the little comforts.)

So to you what are the basic neccesities?

My Nano, my OhMiBod and a solar battery charger.

And that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control....

Stella Omega alluded to one of the bare necessities (pun intended)... clothes. Although I could do without the mink coat and it might be a bit hot for that in Texas. :D

Necessities depend on the situation. In a Western city, power, water and sewer would be necessities, because there is no viable alternative - it's a bit hard to dig a pit toilet or have a campfire in an apartment block ;)

So necessities are food and a means to prepare it; clean water; shelter; available medical aid and viable effluent disposal.

All else can be done without. It may not be pretty, or fun, but it's survivable.

Ahhh a woman after my own heart.

In a way I'm lucky I suppose. I live in a mobile home park and can therefore jury rig a few things.

Maybe it's the lifestyle - I'm in a couple of caravans and such behind the half built house.
;)

Internet, water, food, clothing, shelter, comfy pillow, .223 and 9mm hollowpoints.

They can have my comfy pillow when they peel my cold, dead fingers, etc.

My mind. If the area I am in is lacking in anything else that I need (food, water, shelter) I leave that area in search of what else I need. I will come up with a way of obtaining said needs along the way (hopefully ;) ), or when I get there.

I mentioned on an earlier thread that I keep a large box filled with necessities...old coffee perculator, sterno stove, Sterno cans, machete, hatchet, water purification tablets, etc. Virtually all the essentials to survive for a week. I have a huge tent stored in the garage, too.

I love that movie....still. :D

I live in northern Alabama. Pretty much all you need to survive here is a shotgun,a fishing pole, and a horse for transportation....all of which we have.
