I don't want to bias what anyone has to write.. so just comment or give your interpretation, if you please. :)

never heard it before, but I'd guess someone who is gay, who has found themselves in a heterosexual relationship.

Or perhaps a gay person who is straight-acting, but this would be a second choice.

actually, I feel that 'gay' should be considered a social construction, whereas homosexual (for me) describes someone who is attracted primarily to members of their own gender.

Maybe it's describing me,a guy who likes sucking cocks but loves women.

Do you think that enjoying sucking cocks makes you homosexual? bisexual?

Is it just the cocks you like, or the whole male form? Do you see men on the street and think, oh I like him?

just curious.

This is coming from a straight guy; If were being technical I'd say that phrase is bullshit because they're two different things and the complete opposite of each other, which I believe would make that phrase an oxymoron.
I would say the correct term would simply be Bi-sexual.

I've never heard the term, so my instinctive reaction was "huh?"

It reminds me of straight guys trying to pick up chicks by saying they're a lesbian trapped in a man's body. (Not actual gender dysphoria, just using it as a line.)

How about straight people who live in "queer space"?
Examples might include: a stright woman who is married to a crossdresser; a straight man with a transexual; a straight man who likes to be "pegged"...
None of these people would be accepted in "normal" hetro environments, and usually find themselves active in the gay community by default.

I appreciate the feedback.

The term "straight queer" is a personal construct that I intend to elucidate as part of a story I'll write in the coming months. I could put forward an expository on the term but I'd rather take a more subtle route toward establishing the idea via "lived experience" rather than as an analytical concept.

Ah, the idleness...

Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about including a straight man who enjoys anal sex. You're right that most people would consider it non-hetero, but if it's a woman doing the pegging then I think it's still het sex.

I agree. Letting a woman peg me might be kinky, but it's still het. I don't think "straight queer" means much of anything. Why invent a new term when "kinky" fits quite nicely?

I guess I was looking for examples in which people who self-identify as straight would wind up in Queer environments - and be labled as Queer through association. This would not include the traditional "fag hag" or "dyke tyke"....

For example, a straight person who winds up on the board of directors for a Queer activist group or a straight person who regularly attends political demonstrations for Queer rights might be labled as queer by anyone who did not know them intimately... and would therefore be a "straight queer". Perhaps the pegger was a bit of a stretch (pardon the pun), but there are people out there who are more comfortable in queer environments than they are in straight society - regardless of whom they share a bed with.

I was looking at the title as more of an inclusive political lable than as a sexual classification. But, as one of those "straight" people who volunteer to pull a float in the Pride parade, who has served on the board of two queer advocacy groups and who occationally gets bloodied by idiot christians while counter-demonstrating against the "God hates Fags" folk, I think an inclusive title might be helpful...

Oh! I think you mean an Ally, then. Allies are straight people who are supportive of queer rights, participate in queer activism, etc. It may not be a super widely known word, but it is used to describe exactly what you're talking about. :)

ay ay ay caramba

bisexual, pansexual , strange straight (my own creation) straight queer. Damn all those labels could fit on me like big time :)

So what do you think about the term "strange straight" then ?

Since that was what I felt, before I began to think I was bi/pansexual. Because I felt I was straight, but had a fetish with transsexuals. But now, I feel I am more pansexual or bisexual for that matter. And , or just damn horny :D :)

pansexual?
Nah, that applies to one's own orientation. It's the same thing as bisexual, but it acknowledges that there are more than two genders. Ditto for omnisexual...it means who you're attracted to, not who you're friends with.

Having been in all these situations, I crossdress, I had a relationship with a post op transexal & I love being pegged the only label I can find to fit me is "Happy With Who I Am".

I would regard myself as heterosexual but not straight. As I only find women attractive, but am willing to try anything with them at least once.

My SO, refers to me as being heteroadventurous.

fucking idiototic

but thats just me
sounds like a 'hip' new catch phrase like 'blog'

or metrosexual
but that falls under the same catagory as my first answer, I dont get the point in being as androgonous as possible then complaining when someone asks if you're a guy a girl or other

*blush*

thankyou, & I must agree my SO is the most wonderful person to be in a relationship with, after 13 years together we still surprise each other and find new ways to indulge in our pleasures. In my life I have been fortunate to have had partners who even today want to be part of my circle of friends. Hopefully I deserve the love and kindness they show me, and I always do my best to look after them and be there for them when its needed.

BTW, you are a fantastic lady too  :rose:
