Or breakfast.

That and a strong, short Bloody Mary or Spicy Caesar will kick a hangover out of bed.

Bloddy Mary I know (a little to well) what the fuck is a Spicy Caesar??

Emerson's Spicy Caesar

Run a lemon or lime wedge around the rim of a tall glass, then turn it upside down onto a plate of celery salt. Fill glass with ice (use beef broth cubes if you have them). Add 1 1/2 oz to 2 oz vodka, 4 dashes of Tabasco, 2 dashes of Worcestershire, 1/2 tsp horseradish, and the remaining juice from the lemon / lime wedge. Top up with Clamato juice and a generous grinding of pepper. Garnish with a couple pickled green beans and a rasher of crispy thick-cut bacon.

This drink is not known well in the US, with the exception of major cities or within a 100 miles or so of the Canada / US border. It is deliciously Canadian. Ask for it in a bar and you may get a weird look, order it in a restaurant and you'll likely get a plate of dressed romaine lettuce.

Treat yourself. A well prepared Spicy Caesar is a delicious treat.

I make my own broth so it is no biggie to freeze a few trays of cubes and keep them in a ziplock, in the freezer.

They're good in a Bloody Mary too, if you don't want to take a chance with the gay Canadian concoction.

When it comes to food and drink, sometimes the sublime is found in the simplest details.

I have quarts of chicken and beef stock in the freezer. Never had time to individually freeze them in ice cube trays. Not really worth the time for one drink. Especially when a good vodka should be consumed by its self. Frozen of course.

Beef broth is an essential ingredient if you are making your own Bloody Mary mix. I need to make some soon. Time to infuse some vodka with lime, veggies, garlic and herbs.

You need to try some smoked salmon vodka in those.

The best bloody mary ever was in Mexico. Little out of the way shack... He was a magician!! I've been chasing that taste ever since.

I haven't had a really good one in a long while. Maybe I will do a New Years Day brunch. We usually do New Year's Eve. I've been wanting to do a brunch here for months.

In Montreal, a Bloody Caesar uses Clamto juice. A Bloody Mary is tomato juice.
At least, that was how it was explained to me.
