I do cook...meals don't usually require wheat products, but I've always loved home made bread, muffins, cookies, cupcakes, etc. I've tried Udi's bread and blueberry muffins and they have the consistency of sawdust. I made chocolate cupcakes yesterday and they were awful. America's Test Kitchen GF cookbook admits the baked products won't be anything like the real thing. Over time I'll probably forget what the real thing tastes like and will get used to the GF stuff. It's just hard to get used to.

The best bread recipe I have tried lately that has the right consistency is Sandwich Bread from "Bread and Butter" by Erin Mckenna.

Can you eat muffins? Because oat muffins taste pretty good and they are simple.

Never ever seen eggs (two of them) that were still inside a freshly slaughtered hen before. And no, we didn't eat them; they were given to the dogs.

In case all y'all are wondering, the baby backs went into the AKORN 15 minutes ago. Dinner will be about 5:30p AST.

I would like to be telling you all about the amazing langoustine and swede meal we had after the people who came for drinks left. But they didn't go till eleven o clock and its too late for me to decide to cook up this delicious meal and so we just ate some bread and butter. It was delicious bread but.....

Why didn't you invite them to join you?

I've been cooking a lot from this Ricardo guy's magazine....he's a Montreal Chef....he has really simple recipes with unusual use of ingredients that produce very tasty results.

Check him out foodies.

Nix the chai tea, I looked for star anise at the store and they don't even sell it. :(
We invited them for 'pre supper drinks' at seven they accepted the invitation for drinks at seven thirty, for drinks 'after having supper '.

Its just a social thing, :). No huge deal, we are on different time zones. Only in theirs they were not hungry, and in mine I was! It won't kill us though :D.

( even if we had invited them.....we only have six langoustine ....not very good to share . I would have been happy to invite them for a meal, but it was drinks that was the preference :) )

Is it normal to eat that late? I'd be having some serious indigestion come bed time.

I hope the company made up for the lack of supper.

Those look tasty.

Didn't even need sauce. They were killer.

My favorite. Looks like they came out perfect! Are you using a typical smoker? We have trouble with smoking temps during the winter months.

It's a cheap AKORN from Chargriller. I use lump charcoal and I can cook down below zero with no problem. I bought an IQ 110 controller for it and it's awesome for holding temperature. I never had to touch the controls after I got the fire going.

I believe that. You're making me want to maybe part with my Webber. I love my Webber.

A lot of Safeway stores have a Mexican food aisle. On that aisle at Safeways here, they sell whole spices in small cellophane bags. If your Safeway has that aisle, most likely they will stock the anise. Why they don't put those spices over on the baking aisle, I have no idea.

Or, if you have a Mexican grocer near you, you can find a good assortment of whole spices and most likely they will have whole star anise.

Weber kettles are awesome. They are great cookers. I have a natural gas Weber for ordinary grilling of steaks, chops, burgers, etc. You can't have too many grills, IMO.
