Two nights ago I made skirt steak tacos. The leftovers turned out even better last night. I didn't have any tomatoes for a salsa so threw green onions, cilantro, jalapeño and Cholula on it. Yummy!

Yummmm..

I'm working on it, but she's the kidleys first serious girlfriend.
I have to be very very careful to make it his idea that she's too high-maintenance.
Altho.....even without my help I'm sure he'll realise it eventually anyway....

Tell her like this:

"Oh. You don't like my food? Well how about a nice glass of go fuck yourself?"

No.

She sounds like a nuisance. Lol! :D

Surely she doesn't expect you all to eat just those ingredients while she's there. That's...

Have you talked to her about it?

If the girl is allergic to other food or on a special diet, fair enough.

I reckon get her to help out in the kitchen. She might like that and you can ask her what she likes.

I made this Asian Chicken Pasta Salad a few days ago and loved it. I'll be doing this one again. I really enjoy dishes like this because they're so easy to play with and add or subtract whatever you'd like. I didn't marinate the pasta or chicken (already cooked) overnight, because I didn't have that kind of time, but the three-four hours I did was plenty to flavor the chicken. Didn't really notice much effect on the pasta. I'm sure it would still be tasty with no marination time at all. The leftovers were very good, too.

I almost forgot: I added ground ginger to the dressing, to taste.

She doesn't cook. So she informed me the second time she came round. Nor does she have any allergies. She just doesn't like anything else
I have since told her she must organise her own food if I have less than a days notice of her coming here. I am not like her Mum.... I refuse to cook twice for 3 people!

People who don't cook must be used to being hungry.

Hmm.

Does your son cook?

When kids come to mine they all help in the kitchen. Whether it be peeling potatoes, manning the BBQ, going to the shop, doing dishes, setting the table, whatever. Everyone helps. They also make their beds and know to clean up after themselves. Shoes off inside. That's how I was raised.

Before I allowed my daughter's friends to stay over, I sat her down and we had a talk about responsibilities. I told her what I expected, what the rules are, and most importantly to look after her friends and to be nice to them. And if she is unsure about anything she has to ask me.

It works. The kids are polite, respectful. Good manners. They ask first.

I say have a talk with your boy and leave it with him. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out.

Yes, my son cooks :)
He works in a bakery, so he cooks all day, 5 days a week.
I generally don't expect him to cook on his work days (seems a little unfair!)
At any rate - if the gf doesn't give me enough notice I won't have any chook defrosted. So she can organise herself.

They are! They have 2 types of chocolate, a mega ton of butter and they're lightly dusted with sea salt. They have 421 calories apiece, but they're huge and sooooo worth it!!

If you'd like the recipe we'll share!

Mega ton of butter.

Fucking beautiful words.

Yes, please! Damn, they sound good.

thør, I am craving White King Salmon.
(I have not tried it, as of yet.)

*Looks at pictures* I have not tried BBQ watermelon steak.

I am not clairvoyant. I did not buy salmon for dinner.
Supermarket run for staples. Too far from the fish market.

Fresh salmon and fresh peas from the garden are only a lovely dream.

Slushie, tell your fish monger to get with it! The fresh white king will be gone, soon.

The persnickety market went away in a huff. The fish market is mostly locally sourced. Turner's makes me weep with frustration. It is a chain restaurant, and they sell fish, etc. on the side. I have zero confidence in getting any White King Salmon from these places. *sigh*

I have lost touch with the piers. I am a rock and dirt girl, now.

Maybe, you can give me an addy to write, email, contact. I can order some to be sent...

Next Year!!! *swoon*

I know the first 3 mail order fish and crab. It's best to phone them with regard to White King.

I buy my white king from Arctic Choice at the Saturday Market. I don't know if they mail order.
