We are seeing some nervous shifts over here about the US economy - is it about to tank ?

Figures are out saying that late mortgage payments and repossessions are at their worst ever since records began - the sub prime market is about to go south

whats happening - why can you all pay your mortgage ?

dont worry about the American Economic Engine

Its fine

its the MOOSESHITS your cunt-ry is allowing to destroy YOU ALL

you should worry about!

Yes.

Asian markets tank all the time on their own; legalized gambling...

People were making bad loans and now the rest of us will pick up the tab.

Housing and real estate are just like the stock market, you get a little bit of bad news and everybody panics.
It goes up, it goes down but it's not gonna fall apart and there won't be another great depression. Some hard times maybe but the economy as a whole is too big and too strong to totally collapse.

If it did collapse then we might as well all pack up now

just a slow down would be enough - The US apart from being tops on Wars of Terror also is the biggest spender out there - its like loosing you best customer all of sudden - wont fuck you totally but be a pain

anyone get their money from New Century - if you owe them you will be OK - if they owe you - worry

When you look at the numbers, it would seem scary. When you look at the percentage of households affected, especially when we learned last week that household incomes are up and rates are still really low, it pales.

The rates were so low that we just had a lot of marginal players who got in over their heads. but that's a good thing, the fact that the average American still bets on their lot in life improving when it comes to their spending.

Dont think like a LIB a DIM a typical Euro PUKE

Its a losing bet!

Panic selling on the stock market is not a reflection of our overall economy, it's strong and thriving. It's more a reflection of computerized trigger points preprogramed to sell and/or buy at certain levels. You watch the markets on a daily basis you can drive yourself crazy.

hey just checking

BB I will quote you verbatim at the next meeting I have - It might make more sense than the usual crap

Hey lets not think like a Lib or a Dim or god forbid a typical Euro Puke

I like the sound of that

Ok if it does get much worse or if the Dollar gets much lower I am comimg back here to as some serious fucking questions

Which is exactly why I don't pay much attention to them. If I saw how much I lose on a bad day I'd have a heart attack.
Most stocks bounce back in a reasonable amount of time and the worst that happens is I end up not making as much as I might have otherwise.
Gotta trust the broker.

Hey big spender, why don't you spend a little time with me...

Why the Germans won't let us claim "Mission Accomplished" and "redeploy" our troops.

Democrats are going to have a real problem getting out of Iraq. You're going to have mayors from Fallujiah to New Fallujiah screaming bloody murder about starving children and lost jobs...

Exactly! +/- a few thousand everytime it hicups. Look for long term growth, not short term.

Can't pay my mortgage? Haven't had one since I paid mine off in 1999 after only 12 years instead of 30.

Ditto. Although I admit I sneak a peak when the market has a day when it tanks and then I "do" for a second think "uh oh." But I don't ever panic sell. If a stock was good in the morning, it is still good for my portfolio at the end of the day even on a day when the market tanks.

Thank you, Warren Buffett

Gord, when European and Asian markets tank, it’s because people pull money out. I wonder where that money goes? ;) ;)

No, they want it secure, they want it with Uncle Sam...

Our markets rebounded.

I left my Asian money where it is; that's my gambling money. I never bet on Europe. (always bet black!)
