Okay it's a bit chilly here tonight, downright cold for South Florida as a matter of fact.

Because of this, and the fact that it is a wonderfully brisk 55° outside right now I'm making me a treat to warm up with.

Yes I could be making Mulld Wine, but I chose not to tonight. Instead I am making Cacao.

No this is not Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate, which my wife is having. This is unsweetened Chocolate melted in Hot Milk. Oh is this good.

So what is your drink of choice to ward of the cold?

coffee, of course.

Doesn't matter what temp it is outside, actually....I would die without coffee. ;)

Coffee, for me.

Mulled wine is a treat though. If I could afford it, I'd make myself some.

Rob, do you need the spices or the wine? Or both?

My hot drink of choice is actually Tea. I'd die without coffee like Cloudy, but a good mug of hot milky tea on a cold day just makes me feel... warm :)

I love Hot Chocolate prepared with hot milk, and I usually have it with marshmallows. I'm a dunker, so I try and have some chocolate chip cookies available, although I'll dunk practically anything. Cookies, bananas and some other food items that might be a bit less appealing to most.

All of the above, as well as Beef Broths have their places when it is cold out. Kahlua may tatse good in Cacao, but I find it to be too sweet for Hot Chocolate.

You and me both. I'm on a french-press kick. You can't go wrong with good beans and french-pressed coffee.

Oh, for cold weather so I could enjoy a hot drink.

It's been in the 70's and, kid you not, the 80's! We're back to ice-cold lemonade here.

Actually, I just bought myself a book of hot-chocolate recipes. I usually go for either mint hot chocolate (or hot chocolate spiked with peppermint schnapps), or mulled cider (non-alchohoic) spiced with cloves, cinnamon, dried orange peel, etc, and sweetened with a bit of brown sugar.

What I'd really like to try out of this recipe book is Lavender hot chocolate:
2 & 1/2 C milk
4 tea lavender
12 oz bittersweet chocolate

Simmer milk, add lavender, take off heat and steep, covered, 3-5 minutes. Strain and wisk in chocolate.

Doing the same with Earl Grey tea for Earl Grey hot chocolate is suppose to be wonderful also, or so I've heard.

You... are my hero :D

I love Earl Grey--I'll have to try this out!

For cold weather drinks, I like Earl Grey, Chai (tea or latte), sometimes coffee... and hot chocolate--gotta have hot chocolate :D

Ok... Here we go again.

Whiskey Punch

2 tall shots of Irish Whiskey in a large mug (Jameson's or Tullimore Dew, of course)

1 squeeze of lemon juice

crushed cloves

1/2 tsp sugar

Fill the cup with hot water.

I've drunk hundreds of bottle of IW this way :p :p

Coffee + shot of whiskey + packet of stevia + 2 Tblsp. half n half. My version of an Irish coffee.

non-alcoholic? I'm also a member of the coffee addicts...

Alcoholic? Hot Choclate and Peppermint Schnapps...
