The sixties
For those who remember
It was a tough duty but we survived

Hippies Forever and I feel fucking sorry for the young - you haven't fucking lived

Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young)

It's get-ting to the point, where I'm no fun any-more
I am sor-ry.
Sometimes it hurts so bad-ly I must cry out loud,
I am lone-ly.
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are,
You make it ha-a-a-ard.
Remember what we've said, and done, and felt about each other; Oh babe, have mercy.
Don't let the past re-mind us of what we are not now; I am not drea-ming
I am yours.....hard.
Tear-ing your-self ____ away from me now, you are free-ee
and I am cry-ing.
This does not me-ean, I don't love you; I do. That's for-ev-er;
yes, and for al-ways..
I am yours.....hard.
Some-thing in-side is telling me that I--'ve got your secret; Are you still lis-t'ning?
Fear is the lock and laugh-ter the key to your heart; and I love you -
I am yours you.....hard, and you make it ha-a-rd.
Fri-day evening____Sun-day in the af-ter-noon;
what have you got to lose?
Tuesday morning____please, be gone, I'm tired of you...
what have you got to lose?
Can I tell it like it is?____Listen to me ba-by.
It's my hea--rt that's a-suf-f'rin'; it's a dy-in'
and that's what I__ have to lose.
I___'ve got an an-swer; I'm going to fly a-way;
what have I got to lose?
Will you come see__ me, Thurs-days and Sat-ur-days (ays, ays), what have you got to lose?
Chestnut-brown ca-na-ry,___ru-by throa-ted spar-row,
sing a song,___ don't be long,__thrill me to the mar-row.
Voi-ces of the an-gels,___ ring a-round the moon-light; Ask-ng me, said she's so free, how can you catch the spar-row.
La-cy lil-ting ly-ric,___los-ing love la-ment-ing; Change my life,___make it right,____be my la-dy.
Du du du du du, du du du du du du,
Du du du du du, du du___ du du;

I don't remember the 60s well
But music floats in
Seeing Jefferson Airplane at Griffith Park when they were doing free concerts
Janis Joplin in a smoky club in San Francisco, and having my first contact high
Discovering Led Zeppelin and Procol Harem, Velvet Underground, Deep Purple
First real kiss to Wild Thing
Campaigning for RFK
Smoking dope on the senior lawn
Giving a shit

Still too young, baby, you should not be here.

Looking back it was like a time warp happened. The sixties should be in the future, not the past. Things were so far ahead of the times, social and political views.

Do you think they would let Laugh-in on prime time now? To damn dangerous, we can't chance it...

Hawks and doves. I was a hawk, got my scares, did my time. Hated the fuckers who called for peace and love of everyone but would spit on a vet.

Burn it down. I am amazed that anyone learned anything constructive.

The vets are still around, trying to get over it. Where have all the hippies gone? To work for the man. Hell now they are the man.

Mad magazine. I think they hosted the 60s, wrote the script for it...

We're still here, working on the inside

There's something happening here.
What it is ain't exactly clear.
There's a man with a gun over there,
Telling me I got to beware.
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down.

49 too young?
Haven't been too young for anything but Medicare lately
Refreshing

I was born in 63 so only remember bits of it. But I had leather flowers tied up in my hair on special occasions......

Yup. Workin' on the inside, raising kids who "Question Authority"!

We have cleaner, more efficient cars, (some of us DO NOT drive SUV's), an attitude that recycling accompanys consumption and that racism is unacceptable in ANY form. :)

Now in some parts of the US, Sch00lteacher may be right... Like L.A.??

joined the war in '65 so i never got to be a hippy. probably a good thing for me. i'm pretty easy, ya know. but i wouldn't trade for free love, political incorrectness, monster cars like the '69 charger with the 440 magnum, free love, 35-45 cent gasoline, 50 cent cigs, 10 dollar a lid (z) smoke and some of the best music ever performed. did i mention free love?

peace

As predicted

I was a teenager in the sixties
it was a magnificent time
if only I could remember it
and then came Vietnam
what a bummer
pass the toke

Sorry teach, but Laugh-In would be way to tame by today's standards...

Buffalo Springfield always sets the memory going.

Kent State wasn't funny

That's what 'For What its worth was about'

We can get cynical but we should reflect a little on how far we've come or how far we've gone backwards

imagine there's no countries

it isn't hard to do

nothing to kill or die for

and no religion too

imagine all the people

living life in peace...

Very nice but not 60s

1975!

John couldn't tell the difference...

Kent State wasn't funny. Taught me to hate the man. It wasn't until many years later that I started to realize that the leftist commie-socialist bastards who manipulated our youth and marched them up to the guns time after time were the real enemies of America...

There was indeed something happening. Most of us chose to see only the obvious.
