I think slut would be a better word to ask for a definition of

A whore for me is someone who accepts money for sex.

Meanwhile I don't really have a definition of a slut ^_^() for me how many partners you have sex with is irrelevant, so the word slut I can honestly say never comes out of my mouth (well except when saying dirty things during funtime, but then it's used in a good way). I perfer more expressive wording to those who I disagree with *grin*.

The only type of people I truly look down upon for their sexual choices are those who date a person for a few days, fuck them, and then break up to move on to greener pastures. I wouldn't call them sluts, but I DO call them all manner of other inappropriate phrases.

A whore is a professional who exchanges sex for money.

Slut is often what women are called who would be called "players" or just "men" if they were men. I don't like the word because to me the use of it supports a sexual double standard.

A more simple answer is if I pay them for sexual services rendered.

Whore is using sex for gain, expecially for money

Slut is a woman who enjoys sex for its own sake. A very positive word. A whore marries a man for his money. A slut marries him to fuck his brains out.

oh is that why I don't mind the term 'lil slut' said by the right person at the right time :D

the difference between "whore" and "slut" is kind of like the difference between "stupid" and "dumb." dumb is when you're ignorant about one particular thing... stupid is when you're dumb about everything.

so here's my incredibly protracted, thought provoking and philosophical insight to the difference between slut and whore (aside from the money issue which is a very valid point).

slut: the ratio of sex partners to total number of sexually active months is greater than 1:10, and/or the ratio of instances of sexual intimacy (including oral, anal, rectal, vaginal, cyber, phone and masturbation but regardless of number of different partners) to total days in one's sexually active life is greater than 4:1.

whore: when all of the above applies to a woman with poor hygeine and little education.

don't worry... it doesn't make sense to me anymore either.

I don't care to define "slut" but I'd really like to meet one.

I think "whore" is often used as a synonym for "slut" but according to the dictionary it's a synonym for prostitue. A person(male or female) who engages in sexual acts for money.

But I personally like to seperate "whore" and "prostitute".
A prostitute is someone who does it for a living. I can respect that. But a whore is someone who lives their life using sex to get what they want.

There's someone close to me who's gf is what I'd define as a "whore". She's with him only because he pays for everything for her, and does everything for her and in return she fucks him. If he ran out of money she'd be out the door like a rat out of an aqueduct. That's a whore.

I agree, i think the big difrence between a whore and a prostitue is how they get paid. A prostitute is paid in cash, a whore in items such as julery, clothes, cars, or even just food. I knew a guy that was getting sex form a girl and she was staying with him and eating with him for free.

Gosh, I thought men loved their women to be whores/sluts in bed? ;)

However, to answer your question - I agree with everyone above!

Ya in bed it is great, out of bed (most of the relationship) it sucks. And since the majority of men dont only think in there pants, well mabey half, ok maybe less then that, but the point is that sex inst or shouldnt be the only reason for a relationship.

I disagree. A whore is paid, be it in cash, or with cars, meals, shows etc.... She or he are really out for material gain and use sex as a lure to obtain such. The sad fact is, most men, myself included, CAN be lead around by their dicks and will happily follow along blindly.

A slut should be defined as a non-gender specific term for anyone that is comfortable with their sexuality and tries to invoke the same in their partner. Unfortunately in today's society the word "slut" has attracted a negative connotation which it really doesn't deserve. I think we all want a partner that is comfortable with their sexuality, unfortunately, few find that (as can be seen by the posts from both sexes complaining about uptight partners) .

Do most men want their wife to be a slut? No, not in its current context. What most men want is a partner that is eager and willing, receptive and willing to initiate sex on her own. Someone that looks at sex as both a form of renewing the intimacy of the relationship and as a form of entertainment. It is both unfortunate and a sad commentary on our society that it takes years of being with someone before this level is achieved, if it ever is.

Thank you, Bobmi. I enjoy sex, am eager and willing to fulfill whatever my husband needs or wants, but I find it insulting that because I believe that, some would refer to me as a slut.

I think if he called me a slut, in bed or out,...well to say I would be hurt is a gross understatement.

A whore is the same as a prostitute, cept it just a term used from an older generation. So if you sleep with someone for money you're a whore.

I'm a big "dictionary definition" fan, and www.dictionary.com has to say:

slut ( P ) Pronunciation Key (slt)
n.

A woman considered sexually promiscuous.
A woman prostitute.
A slovenly woman; a slattern.

Therefore the definition of slut is proclaimed by others and accepted by yourself. By that I mean someone can think you're a slut for whatever they consider to be slutty but you're only a slut when you believe you're a slut =)

To be frank Bobsgirl, I think you would have to consider how that term was delivered and its meaning behind it before taking offense. There are some things said in the heat of passion that are not for repeating with your bible study group.

However I do agree with you, the word "slut" has an extremely negative meaning and I would be hard pressed to think of any instance outside of the bedroom where it could be used as anything other than an insult.

Actually this may be one of those times when its necessary to come up with a new term which describes an eager and willing partner. Slut has too many bad images associated with it. And since the term should be gender neutral, I think a combination of the phrase "willing and eager" making something like "wilger" would certainly make people stop and wonder what the hell they've just been called. :D

bobsgirl...I would have agreed with you...but only because of the negative attitude people usually have when they use 'slut'...my opinion changed when I heard the tone in his voice as he called me a 'lil slut'...and he meant it the way Bob described it...without the judgment....that way...it was a term of endearment...and I accepted it as such.

Geeez

... just a BIT of hypocrisy in this thread, yes? Sex for greed? using their bodies to get what they want (survive?)?, sex for the sake of it? promiscuous? ratios of sex to sex partners? ... disgusting acts done by the morally vacuous on partners willing to risk all for a bit of relief????

Holy cow. From my standpoint these definitions are better descriptions of LAWYERS.

If she's (or he's) been busted a dozen times for soliciting they are very likely PROSTITUTES.

Other wise it's called .... HORNY.

Differentiating the terms "slut" and "whore" is really more difficult than I realized.

To me, sluts like sex, period. They're the 'Samantha' type. They know how to have a good time and it doesn't really matter who you are, as long as they like you. Whores on the other hand, are the ones who use sex as leverage to get want they want.

Examples of this are women/men who use sex to gain the promotion at work; or as blackmail to have their own way. Sluts wanna have fun, whores want to get ahead somehow. Prostitutes, IMHO, aren't really whores, just "sex professionals".

God, now even I'm getting confused . . .
