Throughout my life, I've had to provide proof of citizenship quite a few times. I think I needed to when applying for college. For loans and mortgages I think. I just went to renew my license. The application said if you were applying for a new license, you must provide proof of US citizenship. I never thought of it as a big deal. I understood why it was important and just provided the documentation they requested (much better documentation than our fearless leader has provided, but that's another story).
So, how do undocumented (illegal) aliens get drivers licenses. And why is it so offensive to require a person to provide proof of citizenship.

You don't have to be a citizen to get a drivers license. Who told you that? Holy fuck.

They go to Democratically controlled states that establish themselves as 'santuaries', my own North Carolina being one such place that issues a drivers license with nothing more than a 'matricula' card, which is akin to a receipt for a box of Wheaties. Now that we're getting rid of Bev Perdue, and took control of the legislature in 2010, such injuries are being addressed.

Holy fuck. It said so right on the application form.

Depends on which state is issuing the license, each state has its own rules. Many of the drivers licenses ar fake, while others are from states that don't require anything more than an interpreter.

I don't recall ever having to prove my citizenship status before getting a drivers' license. You do have to prove your identity, which is a separate matter.

My home state of Ohio is all Republican, all the time. The legislature is like 75% Republican and we've had Republican governors every year for 32 years, except for four of them. We don't have to prove our citizenship for anything, including driver's licenses.

Cuyahoga and Franklin counties run Ohio, and the organized crime in those places suffices for government, the legislature is just along for the ride... just ask Kasich how easy it is to change that forcefield!

You're an idiot, we all know it and I try not to engage you too often due to your incredible, shall we say trollishness. However this time I will ask that you please name one state that requires a person be a US citizen in order to get a drivers license.

When applying for a driver's license you must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, legal permanent resident status, legal conditional resident status or legal presence in the U.S.

Keyword, 'or'. You do not have to be a U.S. citizen, just show that you are in the U.S. legally.

Whichever state anyone cares to look this up, Google the DMV for that state.

Mexico.

proving your citizenship in order to get access to very specific goods and services is not the same thing as having to show your papers just so you can walk freely down the street without being harrassed and arrested by the state.

Dumbass. Everyone knows the organized crime capital of Ohio is Youngstown. And they haven't been much of a factor for decades.

When displaying your ignorance, please stick to topics you actually think you do know something about, instead of topics you're truly just winging it on.

Bwhahaha!

Truth.

As you say, Youngstown hasn't been much of a factor, but Cuyahoga and Franklin counties fill that space real well.

I don't know what to say. Every post you make surpasses the one before it.
