Moving is a major life stress factor, even when the move is a good move. The word moving is an emotional word. Part of my history has been negatively moving. It only makes sense that moving in adulthood evokes all sorts of senses of impending doom and insecurity.

And I wonder who is Jack? He's parked in front of my apartment.

I have moved a few times. Some reasons, I just had to move on. I always ended up in a good place though , with new beginnings.
The work behind moving sucks.

This is timely for me. Technically, I guess I moved 4 or 5 months ago. I only took a small overnight bag with me and have bought whatever else I needed, as needed. Until I actually move my tools, my kitchen, my couch and my bedroom, I haven't "moved."

I went back to the mountains Monday with the idea I would decide what to take when, what to store, and for all the reasons you describe, I have done nothing.

I moved only once, it was a life changing move, one I don't regret. It gave me a brand new life and I think I became a different person through the trip. The train ride was amazing! I only had what i could fit into two bags, and everyone I met was super nice. Perfect starting over!

I've only moved twice in my life. I'm happy with that.

I moved 6 times by the time I was twelve. I moved a couple of times after I was off on my own before I bought my first house. Lived there till a couple of years after I got married, then 14 years in the next house I bought when I turned the first into rental property.

Been essentially a hobo for the past 7 years starting with some barracks with three hots and a cot for almost the first year. Currently, I have three different "residences." None of which are mine; none of which are permanent.

Wild thing
You make my heart sing
You make everything groovy
Wild thing
Wild thing, I think you move me
But I wanna know for sure
So come on and hold me tight
You move me

My last three moves have been work related with all cost covered.
They come, then break down, they pack, the load, they unload and assemble and place it in the room you want.

That being said, just unpacking, hanging pictures,...

Well it is brutal. Not a lot I hate more.

God forbid I ever have to move myself again.

Lord knows I'm too cheap to pay for full service.

I will save the reasons for a new equation and start fresh on a new piece of math scrap paper. I have a pink eraser.

There are positive aspects.

Everything is clean. No dust bunnies under the couch. Junk drawer doesn't have junk in it. Everything is organized. No clutter. Your closet will never be cleaner. Those shoes you have not worn in years are finally thrown away...

Moving is made tolerable when there is no super stressed rush to get out and in. I am taking my time. Everyone is saying 'moving day!' and I am thinking 'moving months.'

I am astonished that a person can only move once in their life!
:)

 I was singing that while I was typing that.

Problem is that I have used up my moving months, probably. Where I am now, it is not feasible to move much of anything there, so likely I will put everything in storage, where it will sit for a long time.

I have always been good at existing on the fly, so it is weird that I have possessions at all. I get attached to things though.

The hardest move, was when I was going through a divorce. I packed my stuff up and left everything behind and moved to a city. The BEST thing I ever did. Even though I had to leave some special things behind.

The most stressful; moving to another country and trying to get my house "here". Talk about red tape.

I can not count how many times I have moved. I think it's been around 4 or 5 years since the last bag box pack it up go round.

I am going to clean out my head, and get the dust bunnies out of my ears. I will dump the junk out of my eyes and organize my belly. My heart will never be cleaner.

I do not have lots of shoes because I like the shoes I do have so much.

Divorcing and moving are high stress factors. I had one divorce move, but it was some time post divorce so I think it was easier. I just threw my stuff in those heavy duty contractor type trash bags and arrived at my Father’s door.

I can’t imagine the difficulty of moving to, or from another country. Some things always get lost or left during a move process, either by choice, force, or accident. I have a few things I always bring along and refuse to leave.
