You know you're in trouble when...

Isn't that called the instinct of a mother?

Mine had it, too.

I call it the mom sleep. You are never truly asleep. I can open my eyes at the sound of a bedroom door opening on the other side of the house. But, then again, I gave birth to Damien...The spawn of the devil himself. So, it could just be me. ;)

I was going to say "You know you're in trouble when..."your mother calls you by your full name.

AND breaks up each syllable with a pause. :) I practice it. Very effective. Also, when my husband wants my attention, he knows the best way to get it is to use my first and middle names together. Pavlovian.

Now she is totally the opposite. I have gone banging into her house in the morning, rifled through the fridge for something to eat and wandered into her room and she was still sound asleep. Odd...

She's now catching up on all the sleep she missed when raising you!

:D

Rofl, it is definitely a skill. It's funny though, my mom would wake up at the sound of a window sliding closed in the middle of the night (of course, I wasn't the one sneaking out to drink with some boys, lol) or someone getting into the cookie jar when we were kids...you couldn't get anything past her. Now she is totally the opposite. I have gone banging into her house in the morning, rifled through the fridge for something to eat and wandered into her room and she was still sound asleep. Odd...

Her job is done as mom. You're all grown up and the mom radar is turned off!
