when . . . you rely on your computer!

Laptop blew, and the 486, well, is a 486 and when I look at the screen I feel like I need major bottle lens glasses. You know you are desperate, when even though the top half of your screen is some psychadelic mash of pixels akin to something Jefferson Airplane might be proud of . . . you know you are desperate when you pick up your PEN, and you get a hand cramp. You know you are desperate, when you break down determined to see SOMETHING, even if on half the screen, just to write, get email and post!

Can YOU live without your computer? New one arrives tomorrow! :D NOT soon enough.

Sorry about your computer! I hope the new one is perfect. :)

For me, it's like trying to quit smoking. I'm tense, anxious, pissy, and not fun to be around for the first few days without, but if I can make it a week or so, I kind of like not being tethered to it.

No need for sorry, Yui (nice panties btw) we needed high tech anyhow . . . I make my living from the computer, and to be without work for a few days is a loss :( Somehow???? I cam to Lit to ask an important question and got side tracked by all you freaks! :D A good thang ;) You quit smoking:confused: How? LOL ;)

Now you know why I have back ups.

Ok, Maybe having 5 computers running at the same time is a bit much. Maybe having the wireless router so I can take the laptop in the kitchen/livingroom/den/bathroom/bedroom.patio/nextdoor was going too far. Maybe having a closet full of spare parts in case something breaks is a bit much.

Nah.

EDIT: You still have a 486? Wow, I was just looking for one of those to play Scorched Earth on. ;)

I can live quite happily without my computer - as long as hell I can borrow someones when I want to!!!

My monitor's going out (it's a flat screen too :( ), and it'll start blinking like a strobe light without any rythym after I've been on here for about thirty minutes - gives me the worst headache!

But I'm still here.

Nah.

5 might be a bit much.

But the wireless router for the laptop is an absolute MUST have. I don't know how I lived without it. :D

(Still have the old Celeron 466 in the office as a backup. :) )

Well, I have other problems.

My computer kicks ass. It's the connection (or lack thereof) that sucks major donkey dick around here. :(

I miss real internet.

No it's really not too much I use them all. And it allows me to crank out around 30 SETI WUs a day.

Yeah the wireless is a must have, always good to have live timing and scoring on the laptop during F1 qualifying. Amongst other things.

And I was looking for a 486. You know 15 years ago, before Pentiums?

Life without a computer? I'm trying to remember what life was like BEFORE the computer. I think I got more things done then. lol

Well maybe the five computers running might be a touch over the top, but I can understand the spare parts. (I could probably build another two systems from the parts I have in the closet, if I decided to get the boxes.) Now a wirelss router would be a problem for me. (Although I have been looking at a couple of them.) I would get even less done than I do now.:D

Cat

BTW Here is a picture of my latest project. I start on the chairs for it tomorrow.

I have a 386 and an XT, both in working order. But I think I'm the wrong side of the pond.
