You Knew It Had To Happen.

Of course it was going to happen.

It happens all the time, in hetero cases.

I am sure that you are trying to imply that lesbians should never have joint parentship because they might fight over custody if there is a divorce. That's no reason.

Go take your medication. You don't need to be so unhappy.

What does THAT mean? The child has two moms.

The stork didnt bring Junior; they didnt find him in the cabbage patch. He has one woman's blood but not both. What he has is a mom and a step-mom.

JBJ, go back to sleep and let the courts decide. It is time for you nappie change isn't it?

How do you feel about adopted children (to 'straight' parents)? How many 'daddies and mommies' do they need?

I'm reading a rather odd view of parenting into your original post, and your 'stork' comment isn't making it any clearer to me, I'm afraid.

I feel confident that if the kid was a product of your loins you wouldnt be up for sharing with the 'other' woman.

I've not seen too many adoptions with good results; the kid always gets the message that he aint really a Brady. And too many of these kids are damaged at the factory. I say fill the orphanages with them and send them boxes of used underpants at Christmas.

JBJ is our resident idiot troll. Ignoring him is the best action. He only wants to spread hate and discontent and most of his crap is pointless except in his own twisted and distorted mind.

That would depend on who used the underpants. If they were used by actresses, especially porn, and not subsequently washed, they might be quite valuable.

I don't believe the plaintiff in this case has a legal leg to stand on. Step parents usually don't, unless the bio. parent wants to share custody. If Jenkins adopted the child, she might have a case, but the article doesn't say anything about that.

A thought: I gave birth to my baby girl, yet Luna is every bit as much her parent as I am. I don't consider her a "step" anything. The custody battle going on in the article is no different than het battles....and for that matter, plenty of "step-parents" get custody of their step children.

There is no adoption in this case.

The two women were legally married, which is why their separation entails a divorce.

The kidlet has two legal birth parents. Both parents are female.

Several states do not recognize gay marriage and wont divorce gay couples. But all things being equal the court generally awards custody to the birth mother. And if she marries a male he may be able to adopt the child. Wouldnt that wrinkle your BVDs!

Unfortunately, VA is not one of the states that recognizes gay marriage, and the article referred to a "civil union." :(

Generally speaking, I would think step parents would only prevail over bio parents if the latter were proven to be unfit. I don't know if that is the case here.

The ultimate problem is the legal fiction of gay marriage. Two same-sex people cant be the bio-parents of a child. But judges arent noted for their wisdom or intelligence or success as lawyers.

My BVD's would remain perfectly ironed.

Do you know what people actually expect out of equal rights?

The word EQUAL might give you a hint.

All marriages are "legal fictions." Children can end up with one mommy, one deadbeat daddy, one step-daddy, four ex-stepmothers, a new stepmother who is ten years younger than the bio-child, and a fourteen step-siblings.

Marriage is only nominally about biological parentage.

Ability to produce offspring has little to do with marriages. My wife was beyond child-bearing age, and I had a vasectomy before we met, but our marriage is no less valiid. Undisclosed sterility might be grounds for an annulment, but that would be the extant of fecundity in marriage.

Thats nice! And I assume you and the better half wont be in court fighting over natural children. A corporation is a legal fiction, too. However it happened, you cant argue that youre a natural parent if you cant make a baby.

Lincoln told a story about an ox that received an award proclaiming him a 'bull'. The award changed nuthin. The ox said the award was nice but he'd rather have testicles.

Your wife kicked you out of bed for good this time, didn't she.

Wives and girlfriends never get enough of me. I'm old, ugly, and fat, and they still prefer me to the pretty boyz. My mind is a place even the missionaries havent visited, so girlz find me exotic.

You are old, fat, ugly, and mean-spirited. Spelling with a 'z' won't make you exotic.

But whatever delusions keep you going.
