Conservatives, please start flailing your hands and by all means stick your heads in the sand right now. Your ostrich policy toward your nation's problems are hardly unpredictable.
Conservatism, since it has taken hold, has ground the space program to a halt. With NASA going by the lowest bidder to make its shuttles, we've lost two so far, and we have fallen far behind in plans to create a new generation of shuttles.
Conservatism has left America to fall prey to the oil companies that fund the campaigns of most elected Republicans. Unlike Brazil, which has flex fuel vehicles that can run purely on sugar-based ethanol or gasoline, the United States and its "free market" has stubbornly refused to offer Americans cars that run on anything but diesel or gasoline. Biodiesel as a fuel is the byproduct of mechanical hacking by activists and has never caught on even though oil spiked briefly today at $100 a barrel and is now hovering at 70 BBL. Thanks to America's dependency on oil, an unnecessary condition aggravated by Conservative energy policies, America faces the distinct possibility of oil shortages and gasoline lines despite the "free market" working uninhibitedly.
Liberals wired rural America through nationwide and statewide rural electricity programs (taxpayer funded socialist handouts, if you will), but when Conservatives got a hold of things, they brought energy deregulation, which in California (through Governor Pete Wilson) has resulted in skyrocketing energy prices and power outages. Liberal environmentalists, of course, have had a part in this mess with their opposition to nuclear reactors.
Conservatism and its relentless defense of offshoring in the name of heretofore unrealized "new industries" and false claims of "economic growth" has resulted in a precipitous drop in the number of students enrolling in tech or science majors in college, because jobs in those fields are going overseas. As a result, China, not the United States, is building pebble bed reactors, a cutting edge nuclear reactor that is almost immune to meltdowns. Furthermore, Conservative views toward offshoring has resulted in acts of IP theft abroad that can never be fixed or punished: for example, Huawei Corporation, a Chinese Government-backed company, stole Cisco's software, and Cisco was forced to give up its lawsuit. China's Cherry Automotive has stolen intellectual property from Chevrolet; as a result, the Cherry QQ is almost identical to the Chevrolet Spark, inside and out. The next terror to come from offshoring is offshore identity theft, which has already put hundreds, and soon to come, thousands of Americans, into the long, painful process of correcting their credit which was damaged at the hands of offshore thieves who are immune to FBI prosecution.
America is also being left behind as a market for cutting edge goods. In India, Korea, China and Japan, consumer electronics have far exceeded what is sold in America.
Conservatives have brought this country nothing but stagnation whereas Liberalism has, for the most part, resulted in growth and historic landmarks of achievement that the entire world has sought to emulate. Very few things that Conservatives do, on the other hand, is emulated outside this country.
