New author (technically haha). Just wanna meet the community, see how this site works, I’m fairly new, only with two stories haha.

Welcome! The site has its quirks, but beats whatever is in 2nd place.

A suggestion - post a link in your signature to your stories.

What TP said: post the link to your stories in your signature line so everyone here can easily access your story list.

Additional ideas:

1. Read the site FAQ, and especially the publication content guidelines.
2. Read TxTallTales' how to article Love Your Readers:Categories.
3. Read stories by others and figure out what you like. I read stories here for over 10 years before I published a story. By the time I did I had very clear ideas of what I liked and what I wanted to write.
4. Participate in this Author's Hangout forum. Don't hesitate to ask questions or venture opinions.

Welcome, good luck, and enjoy.

Actually, you have three stories now, which is good start. Just keep going, but don't rush yourself. It is indeed satisfying to have your stuff read by others even if you are not getting paid for it.

For a while at the beginning, I often used the story feedback forum to drum up more readership - or so I thought. Now I only use it if there is a specific issue I want to discuss. The various other boards, especially the general topic one - only if you have time to kill.

If you don't have one already, get a grammar checker that is better than the one with your word processing program, although I use that too. The free version of Grammarly is quirky but helpful. Others here may have different suggestions.

You may have noticed that the comments on stories can vary a lot in their - call it politeness and relevance. That's if you get any at all. I usually leave them in place unless they are complete nonsense (and yes, sometimes they are). Answer any if you feel you have a reply, but you may not get a reply in return - short attention spans. If it's a positive response, it's good to say "thank you" at least.

It's okay to promote a story by slipping a link into a forum post - we all do it at times. You can link to outside sites from the forum, except other story sites are frowned upon. That's what I can think of at the moment.
