We have new and not so new writers getting their noses rubbed in shit because the editors aren't doing their jobs, folks.
I hate being an asshole, well, actually I like it, but I have to say, there are stories going out of here with thanks to an editor. These stories have HUGE holes in the plot, shitty grammar, and gaps in logic you can drive semi-truck through sideways!
I realize that you all volunteer your time and you should be congratulated for that. But, from what I am seeing, the authors are getting what they pay for.
A good editor is not just a spell checker. He/She should point out weakness in plot, guide, cajole, make suggestions for different directions, add some grit to dialogue. At minimum, at least tell the writer when he uses 3 DIFFERENT names for the same main character! It makes the author look bad and it makes you look bad.
