We have new and not so new writers getting their noses rubbed in shit because the editors aren't doing their jobs, folks.

I hate being an asshole, well, actually I like it, but I have to say, there are stories going out of here with thanks to an editor. These stories have HUGE holes in the plot, shitty grammar, and gaps in logic you can drive semi-truck through sideways!

I realize that you all volunteer your time and you should be congratulated for that. But, from what I am seeing, the authors are getting what they pay for.

A good editor is not just a spell checker. He/She should point out weakness in plot, guide, cajole, make suggestions for different directions, add some grit to dialogue. At minimum, at least tell the writer when he uses 3 DIFFERENT names for the same main character! It makes the author look bad and it makes you look bad.

Excuse me? Who the hell do you think you are?

First of all, just about all the editors who actually come to this forum take their editing very seriously and are very good at it. Second, they spend their free time doing this and do not get paid for it, so how dare you talk to them like this? Third, not all authors chose to use an editor. If they don't, the editors here sure can't help them.

Oohhhh my friend is back....praise the Lord for his miracles!!!! :D

Now for your comment....we, the editors, cannot force a writer to use our edits...you should know that. Even if a writer acknowledge an editor it doesn't mean he took anything the editor had to say to heart and you know it.

Then, there's the fact that not editor are as good as they should be. It saddens me greatly to say that but it's a fact. Some of those on the editors' list are not even worth the space used to write their name. :(

Those poor writers that you're mentionning were probably unlucky enough to work with bad editors.

Wait, so was I just being overprotective? Figures.

But I don't want the lovely editors to be talked to this way :(

Lol, don't get your danders up with Chagrined Jen. He likes to push people but he's harmless and a very nice man.

He has a point though, how many times have you read a story acknowledging an editor and wondered what the heck the editor had done as it was still full of mistakes? Plenty of times I'm sure.

Unfortunately, the poor editors are the ones who give us, good editors, a bad name and bad reputation. :(

Yes, I know, but those don't come to the forum for the most part, so what's the point of posting that here :(

I'm sorry. I'm in the proces sof getting rather drubnk and should probably not be posting. Ignore me, kay?

LC, I sort of agree with Jen's first post... if Chagrined, no matter how nice a person he/she may be, had looked through the recent forum activity, he would have noticed that when an author comes to the editors here, they get prompt responses and help. If the authors don't come here, that is NOT anyone on this forum's fault, and his approach was rough, abrasive, and downright rude. I have to take time away from other things, like my own writing, to attempt to help other suthors finish their edits in a timely manner, and it makes me wonder why I bother when people post things like this.

Asylumseeker To The Rescue

There's trouble in paradise. I've been selfish to a point in that I'm an adult educator and technical writer / aspiring writer that prefers to write. I have the ability to edit and, more importantly, mentor. I've made my skills available to others but nobody seems to take me up on my offers.

I am willing to converse and address concerns. I cannot singlehandedly change the world but I will do what I can to make it better. I implore anyone to PM me who has a gripe with Lit (FYI I have no control of it). This has been a tremendous outlet for my creative abilty.

*sniff*
we'll have to go off and lick our wounds together, then... :catroar:

Sweet!

My getting drunk is sanctioned and LR and SK are joining in :p :D

Well for my part, I have Smirnoff Wild Grape (yes, I'm that kind of girl... so sue me  ) and cheap beer, because I'm a college student/rugby player and it's mandatory.

There's also Whisky, because my boyfriend is that kind of guy. Yes, he's here

Anyone want? (the alcohol, not my boyfriend, you perverts!) :cathappy:

Hey now, a drunk Jen means a slow typing Jen, unless you want about a dozen typos per post. Patience, Milady

Anyone want?

I dunno, LC's wounds look mighty in need of licking... ;)

and when it comes to alcohol, I am SUCH a girl... I admit it... sweet sweet sweet...

You wouldn't happen to have Gin and Tonic would you? I'm all out of gin and tonic. Have plenty of Whisky, Baileys, Tia Maria, Jack Daniel's but no Gin.

Oh well....I'll make myself a JD/Pepsi....how many do have to drink to be equal to you now?

I'll whip you up a strawberry margarita before I head off ... I'm being paged.

I'm going to go out on a limb and declare this entire thread "Wrong".

Everyone stop posting now and go home.

That is all.
