And the Northeast is next!
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A potent March snowstorm blanketed much of the Southeast with snow Sunday before barreling toward the Northeast, where officials prepared snowplows and road-salt for a wintery assault. The icy blast threatened to drop up to a foot of snow in the Philadelphia area, 13 inches in New York and 15 inches across southern New England late Sunday. Thousands of New York City sanitation workers prepared to salt city streets, and airlines preemptively canceled flights Sunday at the region's major airports.

...Up to 7 inches of snow was expected through Monday morning in areas of Maryland, northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., where Mayor Adrian Fenty declared a snow emergency....Despite above-freezing temperatures in downtown Atlanta, a heavy curtain of snow fell on cars and caused traffic accidents on slushy streets. "
Full story here.

Wow, a 'first timer', by a Virgin, don't think I remember seeing one of those, welcome 'mimi'....and 3113...ahm, there be another thread by you....something to do with 'Spring' or sumpin?:)

I remember one May in the silly sixties, in college up in Kentucky, it snowed and all the damned daffodils wilted...gads...

Yep. Got caught in a 50-mile swath of pretty heavy snow between Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia, this afternoon. Cars off the road in a couple of places. March can be the cruelist month in Central Virginia

Got a couple inches here in Norfolk, lot of schools are either delayed or closed, expecting more closings here shortly as it keeps snowing, and the system is supposed to kick around and keep snowing till early afternoon.

5.75 inches

of snow. First real one in years.

Okay, I got a picture. Melt fast.

It's not all what it's jazzed up to be.

let me just say there are places where you don't want frostbites.

We got about 4 inches, the sun is out and so is school :D
Grandson (8) made a smartass comment and got a shovelfull of snow
That was better than a snowball since this powder isn't good for that. :(

I am part of the North East that is being hit after the south. Eight inches and counting.

And now comes the fun part...the roads are starting to ice up as the temperature keeps dropping into the lower 20's. Forecasts already predict only highs of 30 for the next few days...so its gonna be fun.

Already a nonevent in Central Virginia. I got up and bundled up to go out and shovel it and by the time I'd eaten some breakfast, the sun had taken care of most of what I would have shoveled.

What I found amusing last night is that they closed all of the schools for counties around here for today and right after announcing that, the local newscaster noted that it would be great for the school kids to go up to Wintergreen, our local ski resort, for the day instead--which, of course, is way up the mountain road that would be the worst one to drive on in the snow.
