A U.S. Justice Department official has been arrested on suspicion of traveling to Detroit over the weekend to have sex with a minor.

John David R. Atchison, 53, an assistant U.S. attorney from the northern district of Florida, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Detroit Monday afternoon.

An undercover officer posed as a mother offering her child to Atchison for sex, according to police.

According to authorities, Atchison made contact with a detective working undercover for the Macomb County Sheriff’s department’s.

The detective, acting as the child’s mother, allegedly arranged a sexual encounter between Atchison and her 5-year-old daughter, police said. In deposition, detectives said Atchison suggested the mother tell her daughter that “you found her a sweet boyfriend who will bring her presents.”

While there was no actual victim in this sting operation the accused is very active in local youth sports programs, which begs the question, "How many local kids has this guy molested?"

For the record, I've never joined nor contributed to a Party (only candidates). I've been following politics since the '76 election, and I have NEVER seen the Republicans in a worse light. The party seems to be populated and controlled by corrupt perverts. And the Republicans I talk to are disgusted by their own party, and lots of them voted Democrat last fall.

I'm registered independant... That doesn't mean I'm not called a Democrat.

His boss is a 2002 Bush appointee. Given the political nature of the US Attorney appointments since "Alfredo" took over as AG it's not a long shot to call this guy a Republican.

It just seems like someone has taken to beating the shit out of a Grand Old Pinata filled with sex scandals. GOP politicos and appointees are just falling out by the bucketload.

I have a theory that people with urges that they think or know are wrong are drawn to rigidly moralistic groups thinking perhaps doing so might make them better, cure them or help them control their own behavior. It just doesn't seem to work out that way.
