Yet another category question (sorry).

My current story feels like it should go in EC, but I've never posted there.

To those that have - does it take long stories well, or is it more short strokers?

My other possibility is Romance, but... it's not very romantic. Probably too gritty for there.

EC is kind of a catch all when your story doesn't fit specifically into any of the others.

And it's just like any of the others when it comes to length.

Some folks read long stories, some won't.

It's not purely a stroker category. It's a hard-to-predict category, because it doesn't cater to one type of fetish or interest. I wouldn't hesitate to post a story there just because it's long.

In terms of views, I think of it as on the low end of average, well below illustrated, incest, and loving wives, and somewhat below anal, mature, and a couple of others, but better than categories like humor and letters. But numbers can vary widely in that category.

That's interesting, as by entries it's by far the largest category. 73k stories in EC vs 64k in Incest and 43k in LW. Perhaps the catch-all nature of it dilutes the appeal.

Yeah, my personal experience as a reader is that EC is a foggy swamp. There's great stuff lurking in there, but it can be hard to find without luck (and it's easy to sink into a stinking mire if you're not cautious). Good tags are always good practice, but in Fetish and EC they're even more important, assuming you are hoping to advertise the content to bring in curious readers.

The number of stories contributed to a category has no correlation with the number of views the story receives. Illustrated is, on average, now the most highly viewed category on a per story basis, but it sees relatively few stories. EC has many stories because it's the grab-bag, default category, the place for stories that have nowhere else to go, not because its stories are especially popular.

It's the 'miscellaneous' drawer in your kitchen. Lots of good stuff there, just make sure you stand out.

You'll want to stand out, because the stories only last for a day on the main page. It's a pretty popular category, so there's always lots of new stories.

I prefer Novels/Novellas over EC as long as the story is at least 15-25K words long or longer.
