Yessssssssssss . . .

Ya know I never saw the big deal in having a gay man next to me in a foxhole fighting against a common enemy. I don't know why so many in the military are so homophobic.

Today few are. It's a young people's Army and they don't have the hang-ups some of our resident old farts have.

This is true...yet there are still some of those young people that were raised and trained by those old farts, are the sons and daughters of them. So the prejudice is perpetuated.

But also lessened with each generation. When I went through basic, back in 1991, there was one guy in the bay who others suspected was gay. They complained to the Captain, who basically told them to shut up and get the fuck back to work. It was addressed later by one of the drill sergeants, who said that it wasn't anyone's job to worry about a soldier being gay, as long as they were still a soldier.

We never heard anything more about it.
