Thunberg isn't a teacher. She's an activist. She encourages people to learn for themselves.

And I don't have a climatology degree, or an MD. Nor am I a mechanic, a plumber, or an electrician. So I listen to scientists, doctors, and tradesmen, when I want to know something. Nobody is an expert in everything and you shouldn't try. What you SHOULD do is LISTEN to the people who are experts.

You assumed my question was rhetorical. However, it was not. I'd be more of a lackwit if I DIDN'T inquire about his background in the subject. He may very well be speaking from a place of knowledge and if so, I would re-evaluate my take on his opinion.

You, on the other hand, assume you know what you are talking about, fly off the handle when it even hints at not being in line with your own worldview and thus only expose yourself as one lacking in critical thinking skills and a hypocrite for denigrating, using only your emotional rewponse, someone else for their opinion

You just might be right there.

You don't need a fucking degree in CS to understand the methodology and the math. Any well grounded engineer, mathematician, physicist, etc. can competently follow the papers AND poke holes in the models and conclusions.

I'm sure that YOU, as a highly trained professional know that the Paleo-Climatologists are arguing over whether early Earths atmosphere was 10% CO2 or up to 25% CO2. Or stated another way 100,000 parts per million up to 250,000 parts per million. We sure as hell didn't burn up then and even at ~400 parts per million CO2 the catastrophic results prognosticated by the 'experts' just haven't manifested themselves, have they?

So why were those catastrophic consequences prognosticated to begin with? To suck fucking grant monies out of the government, publish or perish. But the monies drying up, both public and private funding, slim days ahead for the high priests of "The Sky is Falling."

Dude, I entered the field without going to school in it. Trust me, i know how it fucking works. The MS opens doors and gave me a theoretical grounding that I was missing having gone the self-educated hands-on route the first time.

And no, I dont know about any of that. As I said, not a climate scientist. But I trust the majority of scientists to be working towards the right answers. When 90%+ of them agree on a major point, I tend to believe it until some groundbreaking discovery comes along - one thats supported by the majority of scientists again.

And - what IF theyre wrong? We all start recycling more and driving less/using public transit and allowing more WFH and producing less single use plastic and...we make a better world for no reason. Oh no.
