They read it to the end and then commented, which says you wrote well enough to keep them reading. The fact they were affected by it, means they got into the story enough to judge it. The fun of writing is acquiring the skills to hook the readers anger, despair, fear, lust, curiosity, and joy.

wife leaves a letter with apologies and regrets.
cemetary with wifes remains is wiped out by a meteor strike.
