Alright. So my gf seems to have a yeast infection. Monistat says even if you take the one day to wait a few days for sex. So if she takes it and the symptoms subside, can I use my fingers on her?

With the one-day monistat, her symptoms probably won't subside for another few days after she takes it. That's the disappointing thing about those one-dose creams....fewer doses, but it takes just as long to work as the 3-day creams.

You'll just have to wait until she's ready. Yeast infections can hurt like a motherfucker. Even after the itching is gone, it's possible she might still be sensitive or in pain.

And let me just add...if you mess around and she's still itchy or in pain, or even if she's not, you can make it worse.
There were times where I thought, "Hmmm. I think it's better, let's go for it." And the next day, I'm worse off than I was to start with.
Trust me...leave her be until she's completely healed. And FYI, it may take a 7-day treatment. I find the 3-day treatments don't "lick it," excuse the pun.

And just a little reminder...

Once the two of you DO decide it's okay to use your fingers on her, even if all the symptoms have subsided, be careful to wash your hands before you touch yourself. Give it a few days, because even though the symptoms are less, you can still transfer that infection to yourself.

Alot of times, even after using the meds, the symptoms get worse before they get better. I'm sure you guys can go a week without any sex. I get about 5 a yr so I have moved on to Diflucan (the pill) it works in 24 hrs BUT even it says the symptoms can linger for 5 - 7 days. Plus if you were to fool around and YOU get the infection it's highly possible you won't know it but you'll just keep passing it on to her. I would wait at least 5 days.

meh. Yeast infections. What are they good for?

Pizza dough?

Yeast infections are often as not caused by stress, poor diet and too many pink cadillacs cruisin down the freeway of love, in that order.

Antibacterial treatments kill the bad bacteria...and anything else that gets in its way.

Exercise, relaxation, a healthy diet and (as always) lots of fresh air and sunshine on the old loveclam, are a much healthier prescription than killer creams.

it is quite obvious that his post is by a MALE.
not only that, it is also obvious that this post is by a male who has been lucky enough NOT to have been infected himself by a yeast infection transferred by his unfortunate partner.

the unbearable itch..... the uncomfortable swelling..... the absolutely indescribable pain.....

yes, you should get down on your knees, lance, and thank each and every god that you haven't been through it.

take your 'fresh air, sunshine, healthy diet, excercise and relaxation' and go preach somewhere else -

we women will take the 'killer creams' and breathe a huge sigh of relief, thankyou.

Yeah, you're right...I've never been with a Fleishmann's grrl, Itchy.

The idea is to practice a sound regimin of preventative cootch care.

You can practice all the sound "cootch care" in the world and still get a yeast infection. Any time I've had to take antibiotics I've gotten one, and I know plenty of women who manage to fall victim to their unpleasantness in spite of fanatical genital hygiene practices. "cootch care"won't prevent a woman from getting a yeast infection.

I would suggest no sex until she's had at least 2 or 3 totally symptom free days, and definatley NO ORAL sex as you could possibly contract Thrush which is a yeast infection of the mouth. Your GF likely won't feel much like having anyone near her vagina until she's healed at any rate. Yeast infections are quite nasty on their own, and we women tend to do nothing to aggravate them further. Just wait til she's healed or be prepared to enjoy the experience of maddeningly itchy, enflammed genitals with her.

i recently had a yeast infection- i just abstained from sex for like 2 weeks.
best way to do it.
and mine just appeared out of no-where :( not even like it was punishment for sleeping around.
unless of course my other half has been!!

ahh well
hope she gets better soon-

p.s. why would you want to do oral or any other sex ? it smells like moudly fish bread !

Exactly!
I know when I have one I hate the smell and the mess (which the creams only make worse IMO) soI can't figure why a man would even consider venturing south til it was totally cleared up.

i second that motion.. the creams are gross, it's like you have a hold refrigerated supply of congealed spunk eeking out of you everytime you cough or stand up.

yuck!

Preventative coooter care should not be under-rated or dismissed.

If she gets them often, she can go to GNC or some other natural food store and get a bottle of pills containing good bacteria strains - namely "Lactobacillius." Basically, this is the good bacteria that is in yogurt that helps yeast infections. Just take one a day. I've taken one a day for about 6 months and haven't gotten one yet, where I used to get them like every 2 months

Wearing cotton panties (how boring) and looser pants also helps to increase air flow which in turn prevents the warm moist conditions that enhance yeast growth.

My husband also treats with a OTC anti-fungal cream when I am treating so we don't pass back and forth.
