Yeah! .... Awww.

My latest story went up last Sunday. Five days of constant activity: tens of thousands of views, a few comments, favourites, dozens of new followers. The view rates and scores for the three previous instalments in the series went up as more readers went back to them and voted and favourited them.

And now... nothing. A new favourite every five hours or so, that's it. One or two new followers.

It's hard coming down from that high.

I normally don't watch my scores very closely but I can't help knowing them when I haven't had a single vote in probably two months. In fact the only movement that I've had are on two separate occasions, two of my stories have had a 5 removed.

But since I posted a new submission a couple of days ago I've been watching the page to see if I've gone live (I have not yet) and I notice very clearly this morning that some time in the past 12 hours someone has graciously downvoted each and every one of my submissions across the board - each story has precisely one new vote and has averaged down. :)

Your newest is in I/T a new story has a bigger window for attention due to how popular the category is.

I'd be careful of posting your numbers here, you're setting yourself up for some jealousy trolling.

As far as I can tell, my numbers are nothing unusual for I/T. And for anyone who *is* jealous: the total views and ratings for all my other stories in other categories combined are probably less than my most popular I/T story.

And I've just been downed again. Someone is bombing me as we speak. I feel so special. (swoon)

Clearly you disappointed someone. How dare you not cater to their exact wishes!

I highly doubt that it's anyone who has actually read the stories. It's either some snowflake here in this forum who is hopelessly butthurt by something that I said, or more likely it's someone in chat, except that when it's someone from chat I basically know who it is and this time I really have no clue which increases the chance that it's actually someone from AH. Either way they are hopping onto multiple accounts to bomb me. The last time that this happened the sweeps only removed about half of the bomb votes. Whatever.

There are some petty posters here, hence my reply to Stillstunned, but there are also those who ghost the forum. I have received nasty comments on stories that have reflected things I have said here many times.

But if we can't boast here, among our peers, were can we boast? My wife is only interested in the stories themselves, not whether anyone else likes them.

Now if people get jealous because I have a redhead, well, that at least is understandable.

I have a redhead as well, so you know it won't be me bombing you. I get bonus points for her being a green eyed Sicilian and me surviving her this long.

Speaking of green eyes...a lot of people here have them. Its a model. Thin skin, green eyes, and a butt that's always hurt.

I know how that feels. If anything your post has made me check your stories out. The ratings would be appropriate only for stories riddled with errors of all types. I am definitely going to read them now.

Speaking from my own experience, posting opinions on AH can get you targeted, sometimes for months. I'll let you know once it hits a full year. 😁
