I'm finally getting a cable modem again!

We moved in just barely over a year ago, and they didn't have the service out here, and now they do! Yay!

The guy is here hooking everything up as I type!

Yeah, well, the phone lines out here are so bad, no matter the speed of the modem or ISP, we connect at a healthy 19.2 everytime. I think I connected at 21.2 once. Emphasis on the once.

I can DL music again, without it taking 2 hours per song! Then, only to find out, the song wasn't fully uploaded, so I now hoave 27 songs that stop mid song, and took roughly 54 hours to do! GAHHHHHHHHHH!

We had dial up and were lucky to connect at 12, and 14.2 was a celebration! We finally broke down and invested in satellite internet, and I absolutely love it! It seems to load Lit faster at home and DL stuff faster than the cable I'm on at work. We can't get cable modem at home...we are waaaay out in the boonies.

We looked into getting satalite last year, but it was 800 set up fee, and about 200 a month after that. WAY out of our range.

But a word...... you may know this anyway.....

Broadband makes a firewall a very very good idea, as your ip is essentially fixed.......so is a very good virus program......
If you have XP don't worry (as much) about the firewall as it has a level of protection inbuilt.....
