Yates Found Not-Guilty of Drowning 5 Children

She was really messed up and didn't get the help she needed. That's just my opinion. :rose:

Insane or not, guilty or not, could anyone possibly imagine the anguish she is in? And her husband?

This is sad for everyone, not just the Yates family and friends, but for us too.
My only comment is the Religous freaks that drove here to this should have been tried too for crimes against humanity.

May be an odd thing to say, but I wish her well.

Link didn't work for me, Sam...

yes, there is a fundamental difference between AY and SS...

although I don't know that there is much "help" for any of them now... the family is basically gone... the father remarried...

I agree, the amount of pain is tremendous--unthinkable, unimaginable... :(

I fixed your link and I agree, that thread is even more upsetting, disgusting, actually.
Thank you so much.

It shows such anger and hostility and no room for understanding the whole story.

It's really sad. There are at least four threads over in the GB and all of them spew nothing but the most vile venom. :(

Very scary, I wonder if the opinion would be the same if it were a man?

Not knocking the gentleman here, just making an observation. :rose:

ok I was GOING to type that, I swear... and decided against it... but I had the same question rolling around my head...

of course, from the stuff flying around over there, the assumption would probably be, if it WERE a man, he'd be on his way to lethal injection... :x

it's a tough call... she was convicted of it once before... and now she was found not guilty...

I have a lot of questions about the dad, actually... but that's just me...

Nope I'm in the same boat as you.

She was isolated having kid after kid, diagnosed with Post partem depression and home schooling. People knew she had problems. Who failed whom?

Since she is not guilty by reason of insanity, the kids get to come back to life. right?

No knock taken. It's a valid question. It would be just as appalling for the father have done that, but the disgusting venomous threads in the GB would be for different reasons.

I agree. I think both and she and he should have been tried. I think she definitely needs to be in a mental facility but at the same time, she did murder the kids. I have very mixed and troubled feelings about this case. The only thing I can say for certain I know is that she definitely belongs in a mental facility rather than a jail. Reminds me of a short story called The Yellow Wall Paper where the woman has post partum depression and the husband locks her in a room where she goes insane. I think it's from almost a century ago, and yet here it is again.

I'm glad I didn't have to be on that jury.

I can imagine the intese pressures on the jury. Texas, bible belt state, with crowds and the media screaming for blood. I think the jury made a courageous decision.
