I decided I am going to be in the north Willamette Valley (Salem and Portland) for Father's day weekend (June 16th). Anybody else up for an impromptu Lit. get together for a couple of hours (I should be able to sneak away from the family for that long on one of the days)?

Licky? How about you?

I'll have to give the bank account a look-see, but if there's Amtrak fare in it, I can make it. :)

Man, dim sum in Portland sounds great right about now.

I forget, how far would you have to go?

I know a pretty good Chinese restaurant in Beaverton (House of Paradise on Murray Hill) that serves good food, although on Father's Day weekend it might be a little crowded.

I'd be coming up from Eugene. It's not an expensive trip, but I don't drive, and right now the budget is a bit unforgiving, but there might be some leaway in there. If not, there's always Eugene in July! :)

Too far south for me, STG...but have fun!
I'll try, but without your luscious ass there to bite, it won't be as much fun.

Pacific Blue how about you? (hey! that rhymes! go me! ;) )

Say, that reminds me; I haven't seen anything more about her date. Did she get kidnapped and ravished or did it not happen yet?

I won't be going to the country fair, but I will be down in the area again towards the end of the month to celebrate my birthday and my daughter's birthday (they are only a week apart).

Oh, I meant that there were murmurings of having a Lit-together toward the end of July in Eugene for those who couldn't travel that far north last time, and on account of how many July birthdays we have in our little PNW group. :)

I can conceivably make it up to Portland on the 16th, health pending. That is, I can make it as far as the train station. :)

Oh, well I will be in the Portland area in that time frame, running down to Eugene wouldn't be that hard - maybe.

I'll be in Oregon in July. Probably won't be able to make it in June
:(

Camping in Lincoln City..

Anyone know the name of the camp grounds there in Lincoln City? Devils Lake rings a bell.. but I'm not sure if that is the name or not.

I'll be around. I'd love to meet for a soda (I don't do coffee) if you'd like to sit and chat for an hour or two.

I didn't get kidnapped or ravished, but thank you for the well wishes. :p

hmmm...I think Honeyman state park is in that area...very beautiful.

Devil's Punch Bowl is also in that area. Let me go get the link.

Devil's Lake is right. It feeds the world's shortest river - something like 100 yards or something as I recall. Not much of a lake as I recall either. My family used to spend a lot of time at Sand Lake before it was taken over by the motorcycles and sand buggies. My grandfather and parents used to row a boat over to the island and camp/picnic there before they built the bridge out to it. Us kids loved exploring the island, but I rarely remember a sunny day there.

Sounds like a plan.

Well, one can always hope ;)

Devils Punchbowl/ lake is in Lincoln City.. and hour away from me.

Honeymans campground is in Florence.. about a 3 hour drive south of Lincoln City. A neat place.. or at least to a 13 year old kid camping out with her best friend it is.. that was 12 years ago.

I might be able to make it STG.. but I've been kinda busy and stressed.. so we'll see. Let me know the closer the date comes up... I might be able to drag Juspar with me ;)

Naudiz.. I'm thinking train to Salem, then I'll drive us up??

Anyone in the Spokane, Yakima, Tri-Cities area??
That's a huge area that just about encompasses all of eastern Washington. You might need to narrow it down a little.

Ohhh! So the meeting in Olympia was fruitful was it? The reports of moaning noises coming from downstairs and you guys keeping everybody awake weren't just exagerrations? So that is why Juspar packed up all his camping gear and stayed at FG's? Kewl! :D
