On the one hand, the young man was right. Too bad most drivers don't or they could avoid unlawful search and seizure in most cases at DUI checkpoints. Checkpoints where officers sometimes forget the Constitutional rights of us that do understand them.

On the other hand, the young man's actions were premeditated. Not a good idea to tempt the police that way. Just show the ID and move on.

I hadn't, but I've seen enough similar episodes.

It's just a dumb, pointless thing to do.

If you get confrontational with the police, you're going to lose.

You won't avoid anything any more than the guy in the video did: he not only got his car searched, he got his paint ruined by a police dog.

About the worst idea when conversing with the police is to bring up your rights or mention the Constitution.

After a lot of time in court and a lot of legal fees one might score a Pyrrhic victory, but it's so much easier to just roll down the stupid window.
