At the risk of upsetting the apple cart

The attitude on this thread reminds me of the lip service Indian Dailies gave grand ideals while reality was much different. The newspapers I read while I was there gave the impression of an idilic society with open dialogue on a variety of sensitive issues like womens rights. While that is fine and dandy it didn't seem like it mirrored the reality of what was going on in the streets. I think everyone can see where I am going with this. While I don't really agree with the way unregistered presented his idea; I don't see his comments differing too much with the ideas offered in "the streets". In reality I don't believe the vocal majority has "patience" with people of "great stature". As unfortunate as that is, unregistereds comments bring to light the bigotry pervasive in society. It may not be confrontational in nature like the insidiousness of racism however it does exist.
I admit to having similar feelings when I see obese people wearing stuff I wouldn't appriciate seeing on "regular sized" folks. I realize that is a snap reactionary view and that if I got to know them they would probably be normal people with regular fears and dreams. My views are changing with time. It seems like it is a long process on both sides of the fence with respect to acceptance. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
