X introduces new ads that can't be blocked, ignored, retweeted, liked or even reported

According to a new report by Mashable Friday, users on X reached out to the publication about a new type of ad. These ads were reportedly in the “For You” feed on the platform and were not appearing on X before.

The new ads also do not let users like or retweet them, Mashable reported. The publication also said the ad format does not reveal the people behind them, or their existence as ads themselves. They also reportedly do not give users options to block an account or report a post if clicked, like advertisement posts typically do.

i haven't used twitter since ages...wasn't a big fan and then, well, musk—another giant toddler with enough money to allow him to behave terribly and lie, cheat, & push disinformation. But there are still posters here who do use it. Just a heads up about yet another totally dodgy move by the pompous grifter, initiated after dropping those protectors of good content.

It seems like Musk is trying to position TwiXer as "the people’s" default source of "news"./ "information".

The promotion of long form content, videos, and political and economic ideology is bringing TwiXer very close to a real life "Ministry of Truth" from 1984, with Elon Musk as Big Brother.

I can easily imagine Musk being long dead, and his creepy face still being used to promote "the truth" on TwiXer.

Of course, Musk isn’t the only POS grandiose control freak trying to corner the market on "the truth", but I would say he is better positioned to do so than the - too obvious by far - corrupt orange POS grandiose control freak behind the - too obvious by far - "truth social" attempt at realizing a real life "Ministry of Truth". - Zuckerberg seems almost quaint and benign compared to those two when it comes to megalomaniacs trying to control the narrative market, which is disturbing in its own right.

Not everybody only posts grievance porn and so far it doesn't seem like there has been any major new developments in Israel cus I've scrolled Reuters, Al Jazzera English, BBC, CNN and Fox and I don't even think they all have camera crews over there. I think there are like five camera people and the news is on loop for now.

X is a private company. They 100% to do whatever they want on their platform. Doesn't mean its advisable since I've heard over the last year the value of X has dropped almost 50% so if he likes money maybe he should be catering to people. With Facebook still mostly intact he's not even the most convient game in town.

Gonna be honest I don't use twitter very often but there is SO much going on in the world at any given moment that I was happy it was around. Much of what I know about Trump, hell much of what WE know about Trump and even MTG and Boebert comes from tweets that if I had to do that as an individual would eat up my life. There are other social media and is Youtube considered SM? Cus it can condense everything going on and then I can choose what to persue. I can't ask questions when I don't know there is a question and I prefer to focus my attention on science stuff that nobody else really cares about, following the strikes that we're not paying attention to though I've lost that thread a bit myself.

So using something and recognizing details about it aren't quite the same.
