X-Box, gonna buy it? Do you care?

I wouldn't waste my time buying the XBox..... I'll stick with my PS2. Anyway, with the new console war going on the price of the PS2 will come down drastically and they will win the war, again. :)

I got the Xbox bug real bad when i first heard about it. Now $500 dollars later I'm set to get the xbox, 2 controllers, nfl fever, tony hawk 2x, and halo on the release date. (Nov. 15th) Ten more days.....boy is my schoolwork going to take a dive. I'm going to have to wait till Christmas till Raw is War comes out...i agree with everyone else, that game looks amazing.

its my job selling PS2's i sold 10 today personally :p

the dvd player isnt as good as a normal one but its still pretty darn good

theres not that many good games out at the moment for PS2 but GTA3 is v good its selling the machine at moment sold 186 copys last week of that game :p

x-box is way more powerful and microsoft are buying up every good game they can to put out onto the x-box

i dont know how well ps2 is selling in america but going by uk sales its not going to flop ... x-box could ... if it become's another dreamcast you'll wish you never bought it no matter how good a machine it is

your best bet is just to buy whatever is selling best because that'll have the best games and most supported in future ... the x-box is a lot more powerful though ... we're recommeding PS2's here because the x-box wont be out in uk till after christmas

PC's will always be the best machine's though :)

As a big fan of the GTA series, I can say GTA 3 is F'N AWESOME. Sooo much better. Those games are soo much fun.

Anyways the that a system can be as powerful as it wants to be, but game availability, brand name recognition and popularity decide what really makes it. The Neo Geo and Jaguar systems were incredibly powerful for their time, but flopped. Why? Cos kids trusted the Nintendo and Sega names, and saw allllll the games for those systems.

The X-box runs a version of Windows. How often does Windows crash for you? How many kinks does it have? Will you accept that from a console? Hell F'n no! The PS2 is stable, runs things well. If SG is right and the DVD player isn't as good, I sure can't tellthe difference. "American Beauty" was visually and aurally great on it. When I play my ECW DVD on it I see wrestling clearer than ever before.

Plus, the X-box does have the drawing ability with the game. The PS2 offers me another Metal Gear game, another GTA game, and upcoming Siphon Filter game, etc., Twisted Metal, hell, maybe even another Parappa game.

Do you want a Windows based console? I don't want to have to confiuge dll's and config files just to play Halo, which will come out for PCs/Macs/Linux anyways.

dreamcast was a windows based console

windows based consoles are very good they dont crash and because they run using a form of windows its easy for people to come up with all sorts of non-official funky utils

dreamcast had a good online community that did some pretty neat stuff with it

basically you wont ever notice that the x-box is running a form of windows unless your a hacker and you get hold of an x-box development kit

and i agree with you sd412 ... its pretty hard to tell the difference between the PS2 dvd player and a normal dvd player but if you had a very expensive tv (widescreen flatscreen blah blah) then i'd go for a proper dvd player

From what I have heard that PS2 is not running at anywhere near its max capability. It is supposed to have a lot more horsepower under the hood then it is using. It is probably sitll not as powerful as the x-box, but has a lot of potential that is not being used now.

How the dreamcast had a good online community when the things was incredibly, incredibly slow on the net is beyond me. The webpages that were made for it to view weren't even optomized for slow connections and text rendering was piss poor.

I've been seeing all sort of screenshots of the X-box hanging, and hearing all sorts of stories of the thing crashing. It's sounding like MS wanted to put too meany features and toolboxes and reference points in the mini-OS and it's goofing up.

And the only real problem I have with the PS2 DVD is having to set the parental level up to 8 all the time.

According to Newsweek's peek at Metal Gear it can render a mullet like a mofo *shudder*

despite what you read the PS2 isnt that powerful ... the dreamcast was more powerful in some area's

it doesnt matter though all that matters is how supported the machines will be ... it looks like PS2's are going to do well and be around for a long time which will be good if you have one :)

X-Box more powerful but what the games will be like i dont know

Ah, Yes. My son has made it his chore in life to drive me insane with video game systems. Every Christmas, it's a new system that can not be found or causes severe 'sticker-shock' if you can find it. This year, it's the Gamecube. Only one store I have talked to will give me a straight answer on (1) Are they even going to get the system, and (2) How much is it going to cost? (I finally got the answer to that second one today....$199.99).

He has a Super NES, Dreamcast, PlayStation, and PS2. He also has something made my Sega, but I've lost track of what that one is called. (I *don't* play with them). His argument for more systems is that the games from one don't play on the others, therefor he *must* have all of them, and have them all hooked up on various TVs at the same time.

Anybody wanna buy a teenager? Cheap! Take over payments! :D
