WTF are "props"????

Proper respect...proper credit.

Also short for propeller, and property- as in property department of a movie or stage production.

LOL, I'm so glad it's not just me who has no idea what this thing means :D

Let me see if I can add a little light to this subject.

"Props" are congratulations to others. It is you recognizing that someone else has helped you and you are thanking them

In the "Hip Hop" community this is also giving a "Shout Out"

In other words, you are saying, "Thank You"

MC Hammer used to use the word "proper" (pronounced "proppa") This meant that something was "Cool"
"In order" " Right On!" Basically .......Appropriate.

"Props" is short for "Proper Respects". When you are acknowledging others, and giving them compliments that is "proper" One should always give "Shout Outs" to their "Hommies" in helping them to succed. "Props" should be given whenever they are appropriate. Does this help to answer your question? Do you get it? If so, that's "proppa"

PC props are sooooo 90's. You need to get back in touch with your inner hip hop child.

:p

I thought "propers" went back to the soul revolution of the late sixties....

I mean Aretha Franklin said "Gimme my propers" in that song "Respect"......it has evolved from there... maybe it's older than that?

A decade huh? well here is the translation then you did have one right wich was the obvious one ofcourse, the fronting one. Set is clique or gang, and buck fifty means cut you wich also means 150 stitches

Here's my attempt at translation from playah to english (I might be off, but what the hell, I'm a 30-year-old white guy from the suburbs of Syracuse, NY.

"What set u wit?" first guess, based largely on context, would be an inquiry as to gang affiliation. Here on Lit, it could also mean: "Are you a Twinkie?"

"and if you keep frontin' shit.." Frontin' is, last I knew, misrepresenting yourself as somehow more hip, or knowledgable than you really are, or trying to be "street" when you clearly are not.

"i'll buckfi'ty your ass." Here's where I'm really grasping at straws, but I think it may refer to the cost of a bullet. I'm most likely to be mistaken on that last one, as I've never heard it before, but I am rather fond of handguns, and ammo has become alarmingly expensive.
