I have a couple of stories that I want to post, and yet they are not my usual fare. Has anyone ( I know Ogg does) ever posted under a different Lit name and why? Has it been beneficial? Different? Generally what's the experience - you don't have to recount the name.

My reasons would be several fold:

to experiement with language that I do not use
to really go into subjects my fan base might not enjoy
to really delve dark and offensively to anyone who might read.

EDIT: Yes there are four more reasons!

Just do it. How many others have done it professionally. Stephen King is Richard Bachman, Anne Rice does erotica under another name......go for it......be abstruse.....lol.

abstruse PRIDE? LOL - you charm me ;)

Go for it, Charley! I know quite a few authors do it, for a multitude of reasons.

Just one thing, though: please PM me, and let me know your psuedonym. ;)

I am only referrring to your name abstruse pride - it is part of my marketing campaign - it worked for Absolute - lol - I bought into it - it worked for you - I'm buying into the ABSTURSE CHAIN baby ;)

I love mind games, pussies I mean puzzles, and I smoke a lot of long hard . . . cigars.

Ok - ok occaisionally!

Hm - do I have Lou junkie on my hands:p Yum.

Really serious though - want to publish under my lit name, and yet don't want to be associated with other types of erotica or porn I might write for that matter.

this is a conundrum then, If you're changing genre, I would change my name then. It's still your writing, it would just reach a different audience. That is what you're talking about right?

Do it Charley darling, make sure you pick a wild but appropriate name... and give the buggers shite:devil: :D I have been tempted to do this myself.... write something far out and wallop it in under a false name.

WHATS WITH THE RED CROSS FLAGS? You blokes and sluts won a FOOTBALL game or something?

I tried it because I wanted to explore a different genre of writing.

If I had posted them as Og I presumed that the readers would have a preconception of the sort of story they would get.

It worked in a way because I had feedback that was different. Jeanne_d_artois' Earth Day story had many more views than the sum of the views for my three stories as Og. It still got a 'mediocre' rating.

I will continue to use Jeanne_d_artois for stories that are different. The AH know that 'she' is Og. Most readers won't know.

Og

Edited for PS. I did find some difficulty maintaining the deception. Several times while 'Jeanne' I signed a post as Og and had to edit quickly.

I came clean on April Fool's Day not just because of the day but because it was becoming difficult and awkward to maintain the two identities with differing tones.

No, it was St George's day yesterday, he's the patron saint of England. :)

We'll be winning some footy matches soon, though! :D

And, yes, you do have a Lou junkie on your hands.

Lou

Charley, Charley, Charley!

SHAME on you!

THAT my dear, is the cross of St George, the flag of ENGLAND!

It was St George's day yesterday! 23rd! :D

thanks OGG - an honest answer. My threads always get taken over by sluts, donuts and SAVE ME red cross flags.

Hey - our mutual queen :D lol - is on every piece of monopoly money I pay my bills with!!! BRITS! A pain in my ass where it would rather be a pain in theirs :) Blood pudding, overcooked roast beef, mustard that scares you out of the country and - TEA! I'm off to Northern Ireland now. :)

I have two or three poems written under a different LITonym. The form and tone of those poems is different, but it was just because I felt like it. Nothing interesting to report.

I want to read those stories, though! Anything dark and offensive to anyone who might read is definitely worth the new wardrobe that comes with having a split personality.

Merely split? Thought that might be more multiple - but ah - you're so young :)
