Is Apache Office 64bit?

I think by Apache Office you mean Apache OpenOffice. I'm pretty sure there are 32 and 64-bit builds.

Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice both originated from the older StarOffice suite through a very branched history. The Wikipedia article on LibreOffice gives a diagram, including the relationship to other office suites, including NeoOffice, Go-OpenOffice and IBM Symphony.

OpenOffice and LibreOffice are very similar and share much of the same underlying code. They can even use some of the same extensions. Right now it appears that LibreOffice is going through much more active development than OpenOffice.

One thing I find annoying (at least with the version I have now) is that when it autosaves it also resets the document so you're viewing the page that the cursor was on. That isn't much of a problem if your writing, but if you're rereading the document then you can suddenly find yourself relocated by several pages.

I use LibreOffice on three different Ubuntu installations. I assume its behavior is the same on Windows or Mac.

Yeah, I noticed the autosave reseting to the cursor after my last update. It's annoying, but now I just move the cursor every time I go to a new page.

I just did an update on Libre office and notice that that annoying issue has been fixed. Now when it auto saves, it leaves the page where you have it. It was only the previous update a few months ago that it started moving the page on an autosave.

Now it's all better.

LibreOffice 5.3 dropped a week or so ago. It fixes numerous issues and is well maintained.

There are 32/64 bit versions available for Windows, OS/X and multiple flavors of Linux.

There is also an add-in Language Tool that helps with grammar and spelling issues.

Best of all they are free.

Yeah, keyboards don't last forever. The more you type, the sooner they start to stick. I buy at least two a year and it's a pain to find one with the right configuration of keys. My hands are used to only two keys being between L and Enter but a lot of Asian keyboards have the enter key as a different shape. They also hide backspace on you and I just can't live with that. I might be in the computer store and a guy is curious why I'm buying ten keyboards. I'm just stocking up because I found a pretty good layout.

Get an IBM PS/2 keyboard; the one with the tapered tops and Cherry switches. Ideal for big fingers at speed, and definitely suitable for long-term use.

Ok i think we are getting away from my original question which is finding a free writing program for my LAPTOP
