WRITING CHALLENGE REVIEW THREAD ~ AUGUST 2013

Just a few little rules for this thread:-

• This thread is for comments and reviews only. Submissions go here!

• Please keep your comments focused on the pieces posted for the challenge running from 1st August – 30th August 2013 only, this is not really intended to be a thread for conversation/flirting/mayhem and so on (Sorry to be a bore!). Writers should be able to find reviews/comments for their pieces without having to trawl through pages of banter (no matter how amusing/sexy it might be!) :)

Readers/Reviewers:- Please keep your comments and reviews polite and, wherever possible, positive. If you have constructive criticism or advice for writers please do give it but be polite about it! You don’t have to like everything you read but if you really don’t have anything nice to say about something then I would suggest you refrain from posting. And if all you want to say is you liked a piece and no more…that’s great too! We all know how writers like to be appreciated! ;)

Authors:- Please take constructive criticism as it is intended, as an attempt at improving possible flaws/problems/areas of confusion in your piece. They are not (hopefully!) personal attacks on you or your work.

• This is supposed to be a fun way to get to know new writers and potential partners, to exercise our writing brains, it’s not a competition, please keep that in mind!

• One more thing…suggestions for future prompts are very welcome and should be PM’d to me – Britwitch – as a link ideally. :)

Previous challenges and reviews can be found here.

Happy reading!

Might as well break the ice.....

Everyone knows I'm a little sentimental and whimsical ( there - the secret is out) so Freek's piece was so up my alley it's not funny. Not something you'd expect to read on lit, but then again, that's what makes it lovely. I enjoyed it immensely - read it twice in fact.

DefiantDemure - you're new, at least to me, so hello! I enjoyed yours too. One reason os because i'm crap at anything approaching poetry, so I enjoy people who at least try it and are competent. It's impressive you were brave enough to post in the challenge and well worth it. One complaint - you're good - write more. :rose:

Vail - why pretend? Everyone knows I like everything you write and this is the same. I'd tell you to write more, but you never listen anyway *shrugs* Stacatto, succinct, edgy. :rose:

PS - I didn't send Freek a rose, but it's only because I don't want people talking!

Glad you enjoyed it Mr. Fish. :D

Don't worry about the rose. I prefer orchids anyway. :p

Hooray for some fantastic pieces of writing!

bounces and claps her hands

Ok...

Fr33ky one, that was lovely, there was a rhythm in there that was just delicious to read out loud. Loved it!

DefiantDemure, welcome to the Lounge and the Challenge :rose: I'm another one for whom poetry never came easily and yours was gorgeous, thanks so much for sharing. Hoping you'll join in again so we can read more!

Vail, is there anything you write badly?
winks
That was fantastic.

Fauxy, I loved the ending. I won't give it away for anyone who hasn't read it yet but it didn't go the way I expected and it was awesome!
nod nods

Thanks everyone for joining in everyone!
Plenty of time left though... :D

Fr33k- I really loved that you wrote something so big in scheme. Sometimes, we tend to hyper-focus, so that was a welcome change.

DefiantDemure- Wow. Just wow. I love poetry, and yours has such layers. I've already read it several times, and enjoyed it every one! :) Keep up writing!

Vail- Beautiful, challenging and wonderful all the same time :)

Faux- The reality you painted was so real, so vivid, I almost saw my friend standing there, saying those very words.
