WRITING CHALLENGE REVIEW THREAD ~ MARCH 2011 ~ PART TWO

Just a few little rules for this thread:-

• This thread is for comments and reviews only. Submissions go here!

• Please keep your comments focused on the pieces posted for the challenge running from 15th – 30th March 2011 only, this is not really intended to be a thread for conversation/flirting/mayhem and so on (Sorry to be a bore!). Writers should be able to find reviews/comments for their pieces without having to trawl through pages of banter (no matter how amusing/sexy it might be!) :)

Readers/Reviewers:- Please keep your comments and reviews polite and, wherever possible, positive. If you have constructive criticism or advice for writers please do give it but be polite about it! You don’t have to like everything you read but if you really don’t have anything nice to say about something then I would suggest you refrain from posting. And if all you want to say is you liked a piece and no more…that’s great too! We all know how writers like to be appreciated! ;)

Authors:- Please take constructive criticism as it is intended, as an attempt at improving possible flaws/problems/areas of confusion in your piece. They are not (hopefully!) personal attacks on you or your work.

• This is supposed to be a fun way to get to know new writers and potential partners, to exercise our writing brains, it’s not a competition, please keep that in mind!

• One more thing…suggestions for future prompts are very welcome and should be PM’d to me – Britwitch – as a link ideally. :)

Previous challenges and reviews can be found here.

Happy reading!

Your gift for prose is incredible. The words, imagery, the whole thing is heartbreakingly beautiful. I am totally blown away.

A Lover's Dream - Princess

I wasn't expecting poetry for your entry, but was pleasantly surprised at it. Good imagery, and a nice touch of emotion to the whole thing, definitely enjoyable.

Thank you Rider! Yes, I'm a girl full of surprises and I did that within twenty minutes of looking at the picture. Genius? I think so! lol j/k but seriously, thank you. :)

Princess, I enjoyed the simplicity of your piece. It reminds me of a haiku. However, the repetition of looking and looks seems forced to me. Some sort of synonym might work better to replace one or the other.

Okay, I shall take that into consideration and maybe edit it? Is that allowed? I was going to start it out as a haiku but I suck at writing haikus so I just turned into a poem.

Thank you fr33k!

You wrote this piece beautifully. You have a wonderful gift with the use of words. Even with the somber quality I enjoyed it very much.

Short but stunning. I lose myself so quickly in your words. I could almost feel the cool damp rising from the marsh, feel the chill in the air before the sun's rise. Loved it!

I really really enjoyed this and I have to admit I'm not really one for poetry. I thought it was simple and beautiful, sweet and sincere. Gorgeous!
And yes, edits are allowed ;)

I think I'm in a funk, I'm not sure how I feel about what I submitted. Then again that's how I felt about the other half of this month's challenge too. Oh well, critiques are always welcome.

Rider, I thoroughly enjoyed your piece. It gave the castle, an already awe-inspiring construct, an even larger sense of presence. It became something larger than life itself, though containing a form of being not often afforded to inanimate objects. The power to terrify, to haunt, and yet to inspire beauty, realization and recompense. Well done.

I'm glad you enjoyed my poetry brit! It's always a compliment to hear that you have made someone enjoy something they don't typically write! :D

And thank you fdd

Zy, you are a character. I had to read it twice before I got it. I wonder how many other people will be confused/upset/amused by your submission?

:)

It's a real submission and it's been on my mind since the new challenge was set up.

TY :rose:

Well, as fr33ks33k guessed, I am incredibly upset.
I'm not sure there's any point to writing anything after Zy's submission.
She has humbled me once again, and anything I might write would just be silly.
I laughed, I cried, it was much better than cats.

And only gives me more reason to adore Zy :)
