Writing a sequel to another author's story

There is a story on Literotica that I'd very much like to write a sequel/alternate ending to. I've emailed the author several times to ask his permission and he won't even reply to my emails. Is it permissible for me to post this sequel on Literotica whether the original author gives his approval or not??

I, on the other hand represent a minority that says-- go for it.

You are part of a centuries-long tradition. All the way back in 1741: the great Henry Fielding, the author of "Tom Jones," re-wrote a piece of shit called "Pamela" and his book, "Shamela" is widely acknowledged to be the better piece.

Make a note as to the story that inspired you, and that the author has never replied to your contact attempts. be prepared to get trolling feedback about how despicable you are for plagiarizing innocent amateur pornographers' efforts, but that's the nature of free porn sites.

Good advice. I wrote a sequel to another's story but he gave permission. Several commenters said they liked my version better. :D Anyway, cite the previous story and have at it.

Just steal the story, then post it as your own on another site. :D:D (just kidding)

I figure, most of us publish here under assumed names, for free, so we are basically just gifting our intellectual property to the world. I would be flattered if someone wrote a sequel to one of my stories.

I agree with this comment more than I have agreed with anything Carney has said in the past four years.
:D

Except the first suggestion. Of course.;)
