Writer's Workshop

I'm an editor and I see so may hopeful writers going to the editor's forum seeking writing assistance. I can see why - because most of the AH threads are time-stealers - those who post last win, etc.

I'm an editor and a good writer who has helped many authors.

Or go back to posting your crazy shit.

The choice is yours - explore your writing tendencies or get lost posting insignificant shit.

AS, I have used your services in that past and am appreciative for the help you gave. I'm curious as to your motivation for your thread, Are you frustrated? Bored? I look forward to getting your help again soon, but I haven't written much this year due to health problems and a need to focus on my paid writing work. I don't spend much time in the AH, but this forum has merit. I'm not sure I would want to read anything by a writer who spends ALL her time writing. Muses need to come up for air.

I know this is off the topic, but if your av is you-- would you mind being my muse for a while?

On this forum, people often ask for advice, and we try to help them as much as we can. Most of us do, anyhow. Besides this, there is a large section of the site that includes essays on how to do various writerly things. :)

Some of us, including myself, do spend more time here than we should, but we welcome new authors with open arms, figuratively speaking. :)

Aw.. you made me blush. What a nice thing to hear on my 38th birthday- well, the day after, technically! I figure as long as I still get carded, I'm doing ok. lol

What the fuck? Are you mocking the editor program, you prsgmatic, egostisticsl fuck??

Yes, I took the bait ML knew I shoukn't because, doing so, has lent your sadistic cause some credence.

You are evil, your ideas are evil, and I relieve the contents of my diseaded bowels upon your sick and twisted throne.

In as much as others try to bestow your virtues as a writer and writer's aide, I myself, find you a crass and utterly rude person. I offered you an explanation of my comment, took your ridicule, and then your slander and finally I have to read this nonsense. What part of apologizing to me am I not getting here?

If you want to be taken as a serious writer/editor, this is definitely not the way to go about it. I'll reserve my judgement of you, based on what you have presented to me and what you have said and called me. At this point in time, an apology is order, but not expected.

I can't vouch for any of those things myself, but I do know that AS volunteer edits for a ton of folks, and is usually very helpful to people that wander over to the Editors Forum.

That said, I've also seen some inappropriate behavior, blow-ups, and persecution paranoia...he seems to go off for no apparent reason, and with no apparent pattern. Not sure why, but it is what it is.

Still...there was no reason for the attitude displayed in the OP.

AS edited a story for me and did good. I just wish he'd share the eggnog.

She mumbled something about editors always needing more blue pencils; maybe she didn't pay attention to just where you did your editing...

Then again, SO maybe right...

Blue pencils? I've got Sanford col-erase blue pencils out my ears. About a dozen years ago, the buzz was that Sanford, the only company making the erasable blue-lead pencils editors used forever had gone out of business, and I was among those who bought a shipment of them. Soon thereafter publishing went mainly over to electronic editing. So, I've still got 9/10ths of a shipment of those blue pencils.

As for AS, he's an excellent writer and fixture around here who, um . . . gets "under the weather" from time to time.

There's a good way to accommodate that on the occasional . . . um . . . "under the weather" evening.

"Sweetheart, can you take care of the trash?"

Silence.

"Did you hear me?"

Standing next to her husband, she shook her head. Those damn blue pencils were in his ears again.

:p

LANCE?

I'm confused, what part of AS's comments disturbed you? I made a checklist, and each appelation I marked, 'Ummmmm, yeh, thats Lance.'

That certainly has a ring of truth to it. Or maybe it's just that ringing in my ears from having them stopped up.

Haha! What a great way to lighten up an already lovely Sunday afternoon.

You guys have me giggling and smiling. Thanks.

Perspective. Where are we without it?

Fuck you and yours, asshole! I just am trying to assist writers helping to achieve their goals, and here you are pissing over them. FUCK YOU AND YOUR WORTHLESS LIFE!

I'll be dead soon enough, long before you are, unfortunately, so you'll have ample time to play your game. But I know what it is, don't I?

End game, you pricey piece if shit!

AS - kudos to you for being the warm, accepting human being that you are....I can't believe the amount of abuse you endure for the sake of these ungrateful bottom dwellers. I'm quite thrilled that you've deigned to honor us with your pithy observations and assessments of our collective talent. You've given us all words to live by and deserve nothing less than our undying gratitude.
I only regret that I can't lick your shoes clean in person.....
