Hi,

When i look at some lists of some writers here, i see lots of H's etc; dozens of stories.

Give me and others a hand. Which one of your stories do you recommend? i.e. what one are you most proud of? Which one, IYO, shows you at your writerly best?

I intend that this thread be a kind of reference tool; a useful guide to us readers.

I don't rule out the story with the highest vote ratings, but i'd like you to NOT necessarily go by that; don't automatically pick that story unless, also, you think it's your best. What represents your BEST effort?

Similarly for prize winners; don't just use that; give your opinion of your best
(if it was, also, a winner, that's ok).

if you like, give a sentence as to what the story is about.
----

I'd like this thread to be free of flames and personal attacks. I don't want comments directed at the person and your opinion of his/her writing ability, literacy, or intellect. While i don't mind some BRIEF (e.g., 10 words) follow -up comments, "I enjoyed that." "It didn't move me." Let's keep the thread uncluttered. There is no need for dozens of fans of a story to make any kind of 'popular showing' by a multitude of individual postings. Same for those who dislike a given story.

Of all my 602 stories, I'd have to say...Love So Young. It has everything, a love story, highs and lows, and plenty of sex. Judging by the response to the story, readers agree.

The story of mine I like the best is about a one-legged sparrow.

The little bird was caught by a cat or something and seriously damaged. One leg is missing, her? head kinda flops over to the side, and a bunch of her feathers are missing. But she makes a living getting handouts from people at WAL-MART, McDonalds, and other businesses in her range. She bravely lands on tables and people hand feed her. On one occasion she brought a friend along, the friend tucked one leg beneath her wing and solicited handouts, too.

I call the story SPECIAL NEEDS OF THE WILD.

Probably this one: Underbelly - it's part of a trilogy though, and the second (much longer) part (Cascade) I enjoyed writing even more.

Great idea though, I will probably read through all the pieces when I find the time.

Till Dawn

It was one of those stories that I'm proud of because I feel I got it just right, and yes, readers agreed. I think I even got the tag line right: "He has till dawn to convince her life's worth living."

Nice of you to start up this writerly thread, Pure. Thanks :rose:

Very difficult to decide, as most stories have some special meaning to me, that is why i wrote them, so i like them and am proud of them for different reasons (and at the same time might dislike them for different reasons)... maybe The Blue Bed: http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=207282 - it is a non-erotic story, and it is actually the only story i have here that i didn't write specifically for lit. I wrote it before I even knew of this site, when i was about 20 I think...

Different ones are my favorite for different reasons. Probably the closest to what I write in the mainstream (and not GM) is "Descent into Chaos." Best straight erotica "Blue Roses Tattoo." Possibly the best GM historical is either "Clouds and Rain" or "Colonel's Treasure," GM fantasy "Dagger Through the Moon." Most poetic GM "La Lectura." Most literary GM first time "Honey Hollow Swimming Hole." Most personal GM "That One Exception." But as I look at the list, I see just too many other "favorites" for some reason.

I haven't written that many, but my favourite is SCI. It has hardly any votes and struggles to reach even a score of 4, but I'm very fond of it. I suppose I'm most proud of The Screen because that was the first one that wasn't just written as fast wank story.

Good thread Pure...

I don't know if proud is the right word...but I like some for different reasons and apologize for listing more than one.

TMA: Chase - Winter, 1877 is a fun one that came out of a time travel challenge thread slyc started.

The goal of White Trash was to write basically pure stroke with a plot and it still makes me laugh. It's four chapters of tasteless vulgarity and was a lot of fun to write.

Dirk Hammer -- Private Dick: The Case of the Old Flame is another fun one that was the result of Stella's long sentence challenge thread.

And Chase Cooder (seven one or two page chapters) is special to me because it was my first complete story with an actual plot. It deserves to be expanded and polished up to a shine.

Tthe stroke level of my stories is pretty low. What gives some of them H's is that they're either funny, or entertaining in some other way.

The story of mine that makes me laugh most is Woman's Vanitie, which is pretty anarchic.

I love the wacky science fiction writing style of the '60's and '70s, and I did a neat little story that could have come out of Moorcock's "New Worlds" or Sheckley's "Omni" magazine: Revenge of the Nerdette.

I don't write pure stroke very well, so I try to concentrate on other aspects of the human condition.

For satire, my Troll story came out okay. The fact that it really annoys conservatives means I did something right. I've learned a bit more about the craft of writing since it was posted, so, for all I know, it could really suck.

For serious/creepy, the Bleaker House Ghost was my first experiment in switching back and forth between two POVs. While writing it, I started to sympathize with the wrong character, which dictated the ending.

(Sig line links to the story list.)

Of the ten submissions I've made, it has to be Finding Myself that I'm most proud of.
I wrote it in a little over two feverish days, and very little changed in the edit.

It's about a young man in search of his father who starts to find out who he is along the way, and only has four sex scenes in it for an 11 page piece. The feedback I've had has been extraordinary, and its the first piece I've submitted where I've actually felt like a writer.

Great thread, btw

I still cry every time I read my single red 'H' story Lost and Redeemed, but I keep coming back to my chapter 3 in the Chain Story Kismet. There's a spy story or a mystery in it somewhere.

Out of all seven submissions I've made, I have trouble deciding between Love Discovered and Finding Ethan. I like both of them a lot, and they're both loosely based on real-life events.

Great thread, Pure. :)

My favorite was probably either The Warrior's Song or Possession..both no longer here (but if anyone wants to read them, I can email copies :) )

My favorite story is my newest one. Has not had a lot of views though. It was my first attempt at writing BDSM...but definitely not my last.
