Hi there

I'm looking for an writer who will help me with my current
project "Roundscape: Adorevia". Your job would be to write
the script and create the lore and the story. Creating a story
for a game is quite different so it would be good if you have
experience with videogames even better if you love playing games
like Baldurs Gate, The Witcher, Dragon Age: Origins,
Fable or Mass Effect. Also it's required that english
is your native language.

If you're interested write me an mail with an small
erotic story or links to your exisiting work as proof
of your skills to: notfamoues1111@hotmail.com

More details of Roundscape here: http://offbeatr.com/project/roundscape-adorevia-13608498081

Wow.

You want a deep storyline along the lines of Baldur's Gate, including reams of character dialogue, done in time for artists to create in-game artwork related to the story and programmers to code in-game events by December of this year?

Good luck with that.

Putting your email in a post also isn't allowed here, so better edit it out and make sure your PMs are turned on if you actually want a response. Though anyone who knows enough about CRPGs to understand what they're getting into is going to choke on that estimated release date.

Second that WOW!

Six months to release date...no supporters and no money pledged. And you expect to do all that coding, artwork and have a writer spell out in infinite detail the story line and dialog?

If there was just a little more time...but you couldn't afford me.

$50 an hour, four hour minimum a day. I see the project, my part at least, taking eight months minimum.

Yes, I have worked on a similar project. It has yet to be released as their model...was almost an exact replica of Dark Space. So they decided to put a hold on their project.

But on the bright side, if it ever is released and the model works, I'll be a rich man.

I knew I should have taken payment up front.

This guy must have worked for 38 studios!:D

Hey Op! You and that idiot Schilling owe RI millions! Pay up!

Isn't that the same asshat who wanted stories for pennies on the dollar a while ago? Seems like I recognize that addy.

From the website:

Our team has been responsible for crafting erotic video game titles in the past, which have been met with both success and enthusiasm. Through these ventures, we have not only utilised our experiences in creating these adult oriented games to become accomplished to the rigours of indie game development, but we have also collected a repertoire of seasoned erotic artists and industry veterans always willing to collaborate with us; and together, deliver an experience to you worthy of your support and trust.

Proof of all the above, I think, would be helpful to anyone contemplating joining in. I also noticed that the project has no supporters as of yet (but I didn't see how long the project has been posted; it may have posted today). What information there is is very general.

While posting to Literotica might seem like a good way to find someone to write out an erotic video game, it would be better for the OP to read some of the stories on this site and find a writer or style that would match the game.

And no, I'm not volunteering. I have my own game design to work on. ;)

The project hasn't been posted to the public yet, so it can't have any backers.

Got to agree that links to the published games, reviews, or something of that nature would really help entice someone to come on board, and certainly provide incentive for backers on the crowd funding as well.

If the release date was a year later, it might be feasible. Six months is "not a chance in hell" territory with no storyline ready to plug into the engine.

This, I think. I think that movie makers and video game developers could get a lot of benefit out of reading the stories on Literotica.

Indeed. I've been working on mine for almost a year now and I'm maybe a quarter of the way through it. Of course, if all I did was write for my game, I'd have a lot more finished. :p

It took me six months to code a frikkin' text based game in TRS80 BASIC, for Pete's sake! *laugh*

Granted, I was learning the language as I went along, but still :p

One of the first things I made after my first few classes was a text-based game. I emailed it to everyone in class as well as my professor. He gave me some extra credit for it. :p

I've made a few other basic text games and GUIs since. It's good practice. ;)

My programming was limited to making the Comodore 64's at K-Mart continuously scroll dirty messages. LOL

I started on the same computer, making fart sounds. :p

Hey, I was about twelve at the time, whattaya expect?

Even if one were the story writer and had nothing to do with the code-- it's gotta be incredibly complicated, right-- all of the 'if/then' dialogue and the ten false leads plus the two that actually go somewhere...

There has to be both an overall story into which every other storyline falls, as well as anywhere from dozens to hundreds of smaller story arcs. It's a pain getting them all lined up, and I've only scratched the surface. The trick is to give each different character type (by type, I mean by class/race, even gender) something none of the others have, and to build on those specialties. The more variation, the better, because every player wants to feel that their character is unique.

For a game in the vein of those mentioned - yes - there are going to be lots of branching dialogue options. Odds are that you're going to be trying to convince various characters to hop into bed with you as well, so there's going to be a ticker on that, and appropriately escalating responses as you get closer to the "goal"

It's not even remotely as simple as writing a linear story, even if all the branches eventually lead to the same conclusion - if only by slightly different paths and with varying rewards.

Imagine a thick rope, neat as a pin when it starts. As you get into the game that rope becomes more and more frayed as you chose which fray to follow. There does however come a time that you can no longer branch the fray and it then has to start to fold back into the main rope.

Talk about needing a huge whiteboard.

I should have mentioned that the first roundscape build won't contain everything.
Depending on how many strech goals the game will archieve the game
will be completed through patches after the release of the first build :)

Also i don't except a story on the same level like tolkien.
If the writing is similar like CoC from Fenoxo that would be
already awesome

This isn't a fulltime job/project. I'm looking for an writer
who would like to create a world with me and the team. ;)

Maybe the project description sounds too firmly.
It's still an indie project.

Also i got some experience and i can assure that the
result will be good. When the project launches on Offbeatr
we will show an gameplay trailer.

No matter what, most of the story and the branching paths to get there are going to have to be nailed down to at least some degree before the release of the first build, and six months is beyond ambitious for that from a completely cold start.

You already have races and locations imagined and described on the crowd funding page. The writer is going to have to get up to speed with what you've already created, and how you expect that to blend into the story, even if it's meant for later DLC. You can't just completely spring some of this stuff out of nowhere in a patch and have it feel like a seamless part of an expanding world.

Is the dialogue going to be modern? Victorian? Medieval? What is the state of interaction between the various nations and races? How widespread is magic, if it exists? How are those who wield it viewed?

That's just the tiniest smattering of the types of questions that are going to have to be addressed before one word of a script can be written. You already have a vision, and the writer is going to have to work within that vision for the most part, or the whole project is going to fall apart.

That takes time.

kaliyo, I don't think you understand how long it can take to write things.

As a programmer, you've probably had moments where you just can't figure out the code--you beat your head against it, you take a break, you approach it from a different angle, and you still don't know what's wrong with it.

Fiction is entirely the same. Sometimes the content just won't flow, and there's nothing you can do about it. And it gets worse when you're working on someone else's project. Work is always easier when you're passionate about what you're doing... and it's hard to feel that when someone's giving you orders.

So first off, you don't want a writer, you want multiple writers, so that they can come at it as a team--each one with different strengths, each one with different angles, each one with different ideas. Not only will this improve and speed the final product, but it prevents burn-out. Additionally, this will help you achieve all the tones you want. Some of us are better at writing romance, seduction, passion; some of us are better at writing hard, athletic fucking; some of us do BDSM, whips and chains and arrogance; some of us do incest, the forbidden taboo, the reluctance. If you want all these things, you'll want multiple writers, because the writer who can do a convincing job at all of them all by himself? He doesn't exist. And if he does exist, he's having too much fun writing his own stories to spend any time on yours, even if you pay him.

We're treating you with derision because we don't think you actually know what you're talking about. Even with the engine already set in stone, your writer(s) will be a major bottleneck at this time. With the amount of content you want him to produce, there is no way your current release date is possible.

It has dawned on me that this site (like most of r/l)is full of defeatists.

Not saying this is a small undertaking, but nothing is impossible and its good to see people chasing their projects and dreams. Someone comes here excited and gets the "kids these days, they don't know...."treatment.

To the OP: I wish you a lot of success and hope when you get it done you come back here and not only give us a link to check it out, but bring your middle finger to wave around.

Its human nature to see something, figure you could not do it, then tell others they can't just because it would take away your excuse not to have done it.

I remember the three years of nay saying and insults and ball busting I got when I told people I was going to open the comic shop.

I just smiled and nodded. Then sent everyone one of them a copy of how much profit the store made its first year on my accountants letterhead.

At the bottom of which I included the note "Thank you for your disbelief, it was your mocking of me that inspired this success."

Go for it kiddo, don't let the herd hold you back.

Well, certainly, if he's going to get response in terms of those interested in the project, he's gotten it by now.

Thank you for these kind words :)

Roundscape Adoreva is live and we made 18k in the first 8 Days.
Check it out here

Got an awesome team and we're ready to rock this shit. :)

My programming was limited to making the Comodore 64's at K-Mart continuously scroll dirty messages. LOL

I had an 8th grade computer class on the 64. I learned how to scroll my name IN DIFFERENT COLORS! I swore off computers then because that seemed pretty useless. I blame that class for keeping me from considering a technology degree, thus dooming me to a life of teaching high school.

Of course, now I can do all kinds of crazy shit with tech, but I'm still teaching high school. Steady paycheck, summers off, endless display of erotic artwork (and by that I mean penises drawn on lockers in Sharpie marker), how could one give all that up??

Damn Commodore 64! (I used a Commodore Vic 20 in elementary school too. Does that make me old? Don't answer that question!)
