Write about your muse...

I assume that we are talking here about muse in the sense of ‘a source of inspiration’. In which case, I don’t have a single muse.

I read somewhere – can’t remember where – that JRR Tolkien began The Hobbit by writing one sentence: ‘In a hole in the ground lived a hobbit.’ At that stage, that was all he had. Everything else just followed. And that’s how I tend to write – at least that’s how I tend to write fiction.

'Tis better to be born lucky than to be born rich. That's what my grandfather reckoned. 'If you are born lucky,' he used to say, 'there's a good chance that you will end up both happy and rich – well, rich enough anyway.'

That’s how I started writing ‘Born Lucky’ (https://www.literotica.com/s/born-lucky). I had no idea who the characters were or what they were going to do next. I just followed my fingers and the voice in my head. I didn’t even know that Titch was gay until nine (short) paragraphs from the end.

Maybe my muse is the voice in my head. Who knows? All I know is that he/she/it needs a glass of wine about now. Cheers, boys and girls.

Then I guess the 'muse' is the brainworm that makes me write. Write techy stuff; write songs and alleged poetrty; write stories. write blog / forum entries; write whatever. It's the same muse that makes me speak when i bother speaking. Must be a mental disease.
